    lovelylil,

Thank you for your thoughts...but it seems that God has given us a possibly mis-translated book with convoluted information, interpreted by mis-guided modern day prophets. And if we don't understand what it's all about we are going to be mass murdered at Big "A"...or go to Hell...or whatever.

It just seems He could have been a little clearer. I mean afterall He is God and He knows how puny our brains are and how imperfect we are. Who knows what is literal and what is not. What with talking donkeys & bushes, witches and a servant of God offering his daughters up to rapists. It would take several human lifetimes for a person with a Phd to get an understanding of all the meanings that may or may not be involved, the translations, mis-translations and fine nuances involved. I guess I am just overwhelmed. Usually this is where the "christian" comes along and says, "well all you really need is faith."

The problem is not with God or the Bible. It's the Watchtower's approach to both.

Hi, I've been lurking since last year and am still recovering.

No, I don't think God is a liar? Men lie. Sometimes I become angy and wonder why I didn't leave sooner. When I first decided not to attend another meeting, I didn't know where my beliefs ended and Watchtowerism began. I was baptised in 1988 after six months of bible study. I was truly brainwashed. I was raised as a churchgoer so I've lost my belief in God.

Who lied to us? The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and the brothers and sisters lied to us and we swallowed it happily.

God is the most widely circulated and shared imaginary friend in history. As with most imaginary friends, their attributes will change from person to person even if they all use the same template. The problem lies with the persons that lose track of the imaginary status of their friend and try to make the stories make sense.

Correcion: I've never lost my belief in God. In my recovery, I just trust reading the bible in context. I don't trust commentaries anymore.

Even when the Bible is read from different translations, it's still confusing and still full of violence and hatred and wrong scientific teachings.

The observations in it are from humans who lived 4000 years ago. Of course they are not going to know anything remotely correct or advanced scientifically.

(that the moon isn''t a luminary source, just a refractor of sunlight)

it was also put together by a group of men who did so with the motive of keeping control and power over the people.

It is simply a collection of writtings by men.

Yahweh is the being that they imagined to explain the unexplainable and to justify their thirst for blood, revenge, murder and rape.

Whether or not god exists, I cannot say for sure, but one thing I do know, is that god isn't in those pages.

Look at how small we are...we are insigifigant.

You would think that if god really gave a shit, he would of at least attempted to send a book that united mankind, not divided them into chaotic religions hell-bent on killing others simply because they did not follow someone's interpreation of the bible-books.

As far as I'm concerned, religion has only shed blood and caused untold grief and suffering. Religion is the bane of society.

Spirituality does not need a bible or religion. Spirituality can be a belief in a high-power, or it can just mean you appreciate life and nature around you, and you live your life doing the best you know how to your family, friends, neighbours and strangers.

Spirituality should not be dictated by a group of people. It's a deeply personal, individual, state of mind.

In all seriousness, where are God's words so that we can judge them to be either lies or truth?

One would assume that an "omnipotent" God would have communication skills advanced enough to coherently divulge information to us. If he exists, he obviously can't be bothered doing so. If he can't be bothered, why should we? Our time is limited, and we have more immediate concerns in our day-to-day lives.

If Adam was created a Man that means he had sex organs. What the hell was he supposed to do with them unless God had meant to create Woman all along?

I see GOD as the Generator Of Dreams and my dreams of reality are full of deceptions and lies and hardly anything is what it appears to be...so my GOD is a liar (^_^)... and humans made in the image and likeness of GOD are liars by nature.
