Did you feel like this toward the end? Brothers/Sisters & worldly people

I can remember about 2 years before I exited the org I had a terrible dilema which didn't really have anything to do with my doubts in relation to doctrine.

The problem was hearing over and over and over about the fact that being in the org was 'the best place to be'. That the brothers were 'true friends'. Didn't they have a video out called 'YPA - How can I make REAL friends?'

Now, for me the problem was this; Every time I went to the meetings or out in field service, there was always some scandal going on. Folk gossiping or bitching about others. Cliques being formed. Elders disagreeing and pioneers falling out with each other.

On the other hand, as I started slowly re-associating with my old worldy friends and family, I was coming away from their occasions feeling entertained, refreshed and happy. I was actually having such a good time with the 'the wicked', yet when I was with the brothers, I just felt loaded down and full of negativity.

    Anyone else relate to this?

I can relate to you on so many levels.

I always felt that I couldn't trust anyone in the congregation, based on reasons you've stated. I didn't feel refreshed at all after spending time with them. It had gotten to the point to where I just avoided any gatherings with them altogether.

    On the other hand......

I myself have rekindled relationships with non-JW family members and it's been great. The "worldly" people aren't so bad after all, and they were actually here for me through recent difficult times than any JW was.

I never had any friends my own age in da troof, so it's hard to say. Our cong was in the sticks and there were no kids close to my age for most of my years there. If I did have friends my age, they would not have been good enough for my mom anyway.

My mom tended to be overly critical of others. She always called it "constructive criticism." I think it was mostly destructive jealousy and gossip, though, because it was always about other females, especially younger, prettier ones who liked to chat it up with dad.

I was pretty much her captive audience.

I don't think she intended it that way, but it was a very unhealthy way to grow up.

No kidding. It was genuine hate for each other, if you listened to what was said. . .not what you'd like to assume was meant.

I had a difficult time listening to the Bashing of Non-JWs / Worldly people. I knew many people of various backgrounds at work who were sincere, caring people. They treated me better than the people at the Kingdom Hall.

I told my JW buddy a few months ago that I want no part of a religion that thinks their shit doesn't stink. I said it was an insult in the extreme to wish me and my family destroyed and said I want to never discuss anything about the WT because they are crooks, liars, and pervs. He lost it, and I knew I got my point across. I said, imagine a God discriminating against his own people. Too bad he has no life.

No, I didnt see those problems. I just knew when 1975 came and went that the Wac tower Society was full of shxt. And that was my invitation from God to exit.

I felt that the "brothers" were trying to form a wall around me. They wanted me to stay single forever, and then to exploit it. Besides, they expected me to look and act happy about it so they could get out of doing anything to correct it. I only wish every "sister" that rejected me at the a$$emblies would have been videotaped and have that tape posted prominently on YouTube and every apostate Web site on the whole Internet just so that people could see the "love(???)" that actually goes on in that organization.
