That's too bad but I suppose it goes with the territory. I've never (tho I'm obviously now considering it) subscribed to a commercial service and have used Ultimate White Pages with fairly good results. With one exception every one I've found has been a positive experience.

I hooked up not long ago with a former elder who's been out since the early 80's. A great experience.

A former Bethelite (disfellowshipped in the 50's) and I talked on the phone for quite awhile. He's still convinced the WT is the faithful slave. A downer.

It could be worth it. An ex-JW friend of mine used a similar service (I think it was the Yahoo search) to trace down his long-lost brother, who he found over in the state of Washington. Long story short, they had a great reuniting, the brother moved back here - got back with his kids and former wife who was in the midst of breaking up her bad relationship. This was all made easier by my friend investing a little time and money into the search.

That may be the site my friend used. That one's best if you know the state where the person lives.

Otherwise, you'd have to search each state individually (as my friend did).

nope, absolutely not.

We did net detective and it was lousy. just about anything we REALLY wanted to find, had instructions how to go to the courthouse and get it, for a fee. only with some cause. which we didn't have.

Then they signed us up for the advanced without us wanting them to and began hitting our card on a monthly basis.

I got it all stopped/reveresed, but I shouldn't have HAD to.
