I was told that more than once ...
As a Witness with "all the answers," were you really listening to people pouring their heart out to you? Or were you just thinking of the perfect, Scriptural response?
Was their reaction to your "perfect" counsel totally different from what you expected?

hey coco...when my wife complains to me about things ....at long last (after 17 years of marriage)I have learned to listen.......................................to my i-pod........he he....if she(or Godzilla my MIL)ever becomes apostate btw.....gulp....remember da ninja and put flowers on my grave

This is not "as a witness"...
But in real life, as a rule, most people don't "listen"
They look at you...hear words...but their mind is busy coming up with what they will say next.
A good listener is a rare commodity...
A good listener knows that holding your hand is often much more therapeutic than words.

CoCo- I would really listen to people at the door when they'd talk about something bothering them. Even if they were lonely, wanted to talk about life, I would put my Bible away and just listen ! All anybody wants is to be heard, not preached at ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
I think that when in witness mode listening to people's problems you were listening for how they were not following the BORGS guidelines. You did not really empathize with them as an individual, you looked for how they were no longer keeping up with the chariot like BORGanization. Or how they were not doing their all in service. sad but true me thinks.

Listening is the greatest gift you can give ,it validates the speaker like no words ever will
When you get down to it we all just want to be heard , so maybe returning the favor is really just showing how much love you have and that is always the best we can do , show love
