  friend of mine...... ok ok idiot friend of mine.

  came home seriously late, like 3 or 4 in the morning, probably snuck out in the first place. didnt have his key or had lost it so he was fiddleing with the door to the kitchen to get inside his parents house...... his dad hears someone attempting to break in the kitchen so he comes down stairs in the pitch black........ yells "WHOS THERE" his son is pissed he got caught so he says "WHO DO YOU THINK"................

  (insert shotgun being pumped sound effect).............................. "ITS ME DAD ITS ME DONT SHOOOOOOOOOOOT"

  Ugh. I can relate to the being scared alone...
  
  I think that it intensifies after you have gotten used to having a man around.
  
  I have lived on my own for ~10 years. about a year ago I started dating my sweetie and felt so much safer when he stayed over... we have a place together now and when he goes for the weekend it sucks!!
  
  I didn't used to be scared when I was used to being on my own -i've gotten soft!
  
  Just have a couple glasses of wine. That calms me down and I'm able to walk around the house with a normal heart rate.
