I just attended a meeting this morning recruiting law students to study for six weeks at Cambridge during the summer of '08. The price is somewhere around $5,000, which includes tuition, room and board, and excursions. Boy, sure sounds tempting right now. There is also a four week program in St. Petersburg Russia that is less expensive. Decisions, decisions.

I'm seriously thinking of doing this if I can pull the funding together. It's not every day you get an opportunity to take classes at Cambridge. ;-) What do you all think?

They both sound good to me. I'd love to have such a travel opportunity !!

Which area of the world would you like to see more? Is there a difference in the curriculum?

I say go for it. These opportunities don't come too often. My niece studied in France, and she stated it was a wonderful experience.

Just don't forget JWD and your fiend from Alabama.

I've never been out of the country, so either one would be great. These are merely two that this school sponsors. Evidently there are opportunities in just about every country. There are programs covering different areas of study.

I've also got information on research grants for students pursuing research in certain countries on contemporary topics: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Tajikistan,, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

I would imagine there is a reason that grant funding exists for research in these countries though. ;-)

John is it actually Cambridge University? There are so many educational establishments in the area which trade off the name. Which college is it? If it's a kosher deal, sounds good. You'll fit in well in England. :o)

My daughter, a first year law student, will be studying in Austria next summer; her trip is hosted by Supreme Court Justice Kennedy. She spoke with second year students who made the trip last year, and they said it was very valuable. I recommend you speak with some students at your school who have taken this trip, and ask them their opinion.

I would love to visit Austria. There's just too many places and life is too short. ;-)

Sorry. My sentence wasn't very clear. I think you should speak to students at your school, who have taken the trip YOU are considering, to see if they felt it beneficial.

Of course there is/are reason(s) for such grant funding. Those Eastern European countries are lagging far behind their Western counterparts in all levels of development. Couldn't the Third World appellation also apply to them? However, to their credit, they're making agressive strides to catch up.
