Do Witnesses REALLY Care About Other People?

I agree Zena, that is why it always best when comparing ourselves we do it to the "standard" CHRIST

There we know we have failed and try to do more and better with the knowledge of his mercy and can never gloat over another that we are better. We see ourselves as we truly are and as Paul said dont compare ourselves to others

The problem with it is when we do, we will naturally gravitate to ones who dont do as much or as good, there is where we stop growing, as we feel good about ourselves, it makes us feel good, but that is where it stops. It does nothing for others,

I have no issue with stating that JWs SAY they really care about people but by their actions prove otherwise.

Paul and Christ exposed hypocrites quite regularly.

I have no issue with you stating your observations, we can see things clearly, but examine anothers motives, heart, intentions, I for one cannot do that, I dont know even what my own actions will be many times because I dont know what my own heart as Jeremiah said. Jer 17:9

Paul and Christ exposed hypocrites quite regularly.

Christ could read hearts and both Paul and Christ were inspired, I know that I am not, the Bible also says in Hebrews 4:12 that 12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. The Bible and God can expose our innermost thoughts and desires, not humans Respectfully, mini, your fellow poster, abr

The article is quite detailed as to how it is necessary to have real love for the public to be effective in the "witnessing" work. My impression is that jws are falling down in this area and the WTS sees it as a reason why there is little increase outside of family members being baptized. I'm not judging anyone just presenting the WTS view that great improvement is required among the rank and file.

I believe the question should be more... "Do people REALLY care about each other?" Being a JW or not seems irrelevant.

Haven't you already asked this question recently? This thread feels very "deja vu"...

Anyway, my answer is no. Witnessing is done to save their own necks, to prove themselves righteous by works. It has little or nothing to do with helping others.

I think the distinction between "the world" and JW's from the WTBS has desensitized JW's toward others. Not all, but definitely generally speaking.

I remember we made fun of a part in a CA program that encouraged us to bake a casserole for a neighbor that suffered a recent death in the family. That we should not launch into a sermon or place literature just to make sure the neighbor had a clear understanding of the condition of the dead.

I feel the need to even state that is astounding. But evidently, it needs to be said. Also recently my mother has gone on and on about how the counsel is to be loving to the neighbors. If they were truly studying the Bible they would get the sense of how to treat neighbors. Instead, "Bible" study is really literature study, and the Bible principles are cautioned with "be loving to a point."

I have talked about JW's claim of caring and loving people because they don't show any extra ordainary care or love. They say they do but they really don't.

I agree with you that as a majority they do not. Although, I have to say that I know several JWs who are deeply interested in other people and I don't think they are this way because they are JWs. Being caring is part of their natural disposition and they would probably be this way no matter what religion they belonged to.

Unfortunately, the 'carrot' of 'everlasting life' is what propels most of the people in the religion.
