Come on Finally-Free!! You know that money should've gone to the Watchtower Society.

Yeah, I guess I was being a selfish bastard, but after 9 months of unemployment it was nice to buy a few things I needed when I finally found a job. How was I to know they needed money for their pedophile defense fund?

I was so meek and compliant in those days I didn't even think to tell the elder to f*ck off.

Does anyone remember when the VCR first came out? They warned of the dangers of watching "worldly movies". The VCR let us invite non-Christians (read JW's) into our homes.

Way back, we had a few old folks who used to refer to television as "the Devil's eyeball"

CB radios- apparently it wasn't considered spiritually upbuilding to be yakking with BillyJoe and JimBob about whatever real stuff real country boys like- beer, Harleys, deer hunting, dear hunting, football, does a Ford beat a Chevy, etc- just the important stuff.

When I was baptized (in 1990), one of the sisters suggested I get rid of my computer since it would only prove a distraction to serving jehovah.

one of my epiphany moments when growing up as a JW was when one of the sisters in the congregation told me that she wouldn't buy a microwave oven because the society had not published any information about them in the magazines; she wasn't sure that they were either spiritually appropriate or safe.

That really brought home to me (I was about 16 at the time in 1988) that there was some serious brainwashing taking place.
