First of all, you don't grow a beard. A beard grows itself. Like your fingernails. The rest is a grooming decision. When you say your beard growing "fails" what you're really saying is that you don't think it is becoming or it fails to meet the self image you expected . I see guys all the time that would look 100% better without one of those thin, pubic hair looking, billy goat things. I've had a beard for 25+ yrs(http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/18/138719/1.ashx) and I like it because I think it enhances my appearance and I'm as vain as the next guy. I would say that if you are going to try it give it a decent chance to fill in and try different trims before giving up.

I grow my beard. It does not grow me. Or maybe it does. I'll take your advice... I'm still chuckling over the pubic comment. Mine's definitely not THAT bad. Thanks for the advice

Seems ridiculous to argue whether you grow a beard or not, don't you think gregor? I mean, is anyone misunderstanding the popular usage of the phrase? I think not. And I damned well do grow my beard. ;-)

I let it grow or I don't shave one or the other every winter. I'm not as far north as Mincan but, it's still freakin cold. I think it helps.

I started mine as of last Wednesday, and its almost in. I grow hair like an ape, unfortunately I started shaving at age 11. But lots of women like me with facial hair, and I enjoy the more "manly look". I typically sport, mutton chop sideburns and a goatee, so i didn't have much to fill in. I trimmed them both down once, and I will again at the end of the week. I wanted my full beard to be nicely in by Thanksgiving.

wasn't there some jesus dude who got pissed off at the religious leaders of his day b/c they forced idiotic traditions like washing up to the elbows before eating, etc. if the bible is true, then the wtbts is more aligned with who jesus was fighting against during the first century. jesus would definitely be labeled an apostate if he as a jw.

I got to admit, its in the brainwashing, when my ex grew a soul patch, or should I say attempted to, I could not help but giggle because it was so weird to see him with facial hair.

I've had facial hair ever since I left the org... just not a full beard. 99% of the folks I know have never seen me with out. It's just the grizzly adams that I can't do.
