Hi all,
Open Mind - the #4 talk went well. I talked to the elders before hand and told them I was "waiting on jehovah" when it came to the blood stance so I did not feel I had freedom of speech on the topic. They said that they wanted me to give the talk if I felt ok with it. So I gave it and added the part about fractions to what the RB had. I noted that "it goes without saying that fractions come from blood that was donated for medical purposes" ie: not poured out on the ground. I got all kinds of compliments and "way to go's" My talk was very well worded, I couldnt expose myself but I had to show dichotomy. I think I did well. thanks for asking........

I looked back over your topics and now I remember you went through hell with your wife finding your " Crisis of Conscience book" , correct ? How did that go ? That may have a bearing on how you respond to the elders , do ya think? Is your wife over her shock of finding you with the book? Was it her who has put the elders up to visit you today ?
Ya, boy that was a great day. My wife has settled down although we dont talk about it. She has not told anyone nor did she have anything to do with the "E" Team coming over tonight. In fact, she has barely been out in service either and I find myself going to meetings often without her! Its funny how some meetings are actually "easier" to attend now that I go with a different frame of mind, almost investigative.
I dont believe she would bring up the book although I know it will be on her mind. I think she thinks I am past it. That it was a "phase" that I am over.As for the elders coming over tonight, they are the nice kind. I like them both and I see them just trying to encourage me. I dont believe either of them suspect anything other than "weakness" and needing encouragement.
I dont think tonight will be a big deal but I see the invitations to service after the meetings on Sunday and for Saturday morning coming now.
"why dont you join my family on Saturday for service?" Great. Then I have to say "no thanks" To which they say "Oh, are you busy?" To which I say, "No, I just dont want to go"
LOLWell they are over at 8 pm. Maybe I will crack out the Rye. We'll see about the tunes. ;)
Thanks all!................ Still_in74

I would respond to any specific request with the following:
"Wow, I would really like to, but...."
A) I'm so busy at work right now
B) I haven't been feeling well, I think I'm depressed
C) I have some things I need to do, you know family stuff.
Or whatever thing works for you. Smile when you say it and they would have a hard time calling you on it.

Offer them a drink of water with a roofie in it, and then strip them and take pics of them in a 69. I think you might make PO like that!

At the best of times the elders are sheer a**holes., They will ask death dealing questions i.e. do you believe that God (jehover) is using the fairthrul and discreet slave. When I was asked this question at a visit from 3 of those a** wipe types, I replied yes, it seems Jehovah uses whomever he wants don't you agree? In fact didn't he used the Catholic church to collate the vairous books out there and make the bible didn't he????
Why do you think Jehover uses the Chaldeans and others during the history of the Jews, It didn't mean they they were the ones he used because they were his special people did it? At that point all three of them had the deer in the headlights looks. And finally one replied that is interesting and then they completely changed the subject. You have to be prepared for them, think of something like in matthew chpt 24: what wis is that jesus was telling his aposteles to not be mislead about. In fact get out your bible and read verse Matther 24: 4-9; tell them you are confused about what events Jesus is telling you not to be misled about and see how their eyes glaze over. Then go to Eph. 11:4 and read a few verses and say if we were not to be evangelizers as only some were wouldn't it be productive to be involved in other things?
Of course you will get the stock Jdub answers so be prepared and then change the subject and ask about the upcoming sad or 2day ad. they will gladly answer the ????'s about the SAD and 2DSAD.
At least that was my experience.

I found they really back off when they find out you're suffering from depression.
This of course only works if you're suffering from depression. -

Thank you very much ush419!
What a great scripture to show we don't ALL have to be out there banging on doors.
(BTW, I think you meant Eph. 4:11.)

Be polite, humble, grateful for their concern. Don't ask anything, don't say anything. Prepare for the following possibilities:
- the question "Do you believe that Jehovah is operating through the Faithful and Discreet Slave class?" - Practice saying "Of course!" or whatever in the mirror a few times until you get it right. There's no point raising their alarm.
- the probability that they will encourage you to take on additional 'priviliges'. Thank them for their consideration, you are humbled to be considered, etc. Then be an irregular publisher - don't put in a report slip every few months. They can't give you 'privileges' if you're not playing the game. Tell them that yes, you know that you have to make more effort.Wear jeans or shorts. Have music playing, have a beer in your hand when they get there and offer them one. Go out to shift the car or deal with the dog or start the VCR or do something with the washing machine, etc, if you need to break the conversation at any point.
