Donations to Go Down?

It's utterly amazing that the Society has bamboozled publishers into thinking that all of its cutbacks

are somehow not related to a lack of donations.

Perhaps this will be tested in the next few years as gasoline, food, and other essentials go way

up in price while wages stay stagnant. Good luck squeezing more $ out of heavily indebted

publishers - who lack healthcare and savings and can barely keep up with their credit card payments.

Maybe they'll cancel the Awake sooner than we think!

    Could very well be.

I have a hunch that sometime in the next couple of years, in a "Study Edition" Watchtower, there will be a series of articles on the tithe. How it was beneficial for pure worship, brought joy to the Israelites, yadda yadda yadda.

And the clincher in the final paragraphs of the final article will be something like this:

"True, we no longer live under the Mosaic Law. However, the principles it contained provide a fine guide for how to live our lives today. Just as the Israelites set aside a fixed amount of their income for pure worship, many true Christians today do likewise. What a fine goal to set aside 10% or even more of our income every month to support the Society's worldwide work! Be sure that Jehovah will bless your efforts if you are able to do so."

...thus hinting that "mature ones" would be giving 10%+ of their income. If you're not giving that 10%, well, you're not very "mature", now, are you, brother? What's 10% of your pre-tax income? Just a drop in the bucket!

I often think the Society must be insanely jealous of the Mormons, for whom the tithe is one of the principal tenets of their faith.

sir- I think they'll revert to bake sales and bingo before tithes. But in reality, I just hope they go to hell. No bucks, no lights, no lies - tax them and shut them all down.

Oh I agree, they would never ever explicitly ask for a tithe.

But I can easily see them insinuating that mature Christians would follow the example of the ancient Israelites, and do it (voluntarily of course, wink wink nudge nudge).

they are worse than other religions they say their work is free, but they are continually asking for donations in one form or another. Fee my aching a**. Whenever my wife here's these kind of talksk, she is ever ready to donate more., I have told her no! If you want to donate to them then get a job and donate your money to them.
