Shunning a Jehovah's Witness - They don't like it!

An elder who lives nearby has decided to be play the twat with me recently. I have been out for nearly 2 years, which makes it even more pathetic on his part.

After leaving, this character (thinking I was depressed), would give me the most tactless, thoughless advice that you have ever heard. He loved 'giving it to me' right outside my house. I suppose it made him feel better, to have a pop at the waster.

Since the beginning, he goes through different spells where he won't wave to me as I pass in my car, he won't say hello as I pass him on the street, etc, etc.

I have kinda put up with it. However, he had a right go at me in front of someone else when we were standing discussing my car being vandalised. Very unsympathetic. The other person, after listening to him was left standing like this . He basically made himself look like a right vagina, for the sake of giving me a dressing down.

Well, after that, I have decided to shun him. For the past few weeks, I haven't looked his way, waved or stopped to speak to him. As I catch him out the corner of my eye, I can see that he isn't liking it. After all, HE is the upstanding JW elder, and I am but a filthy wee worldling.

I am going to continue this until it comes to a head. Then when he eventually asks me what I am up to (cause he will), I am going to let him know exactly what I though of his little on-street speech that he gave the other week.

They don't like it when the boot is on the other foot!

    Any similar experiences?

PS - I am taking this action after a 'course of sin', on his part.

I don't have a similar experience or any advice. I just wanted to say, "I like it."

    Shun on.

I call it "reverse shunning" and I do it to the Witneses all the time! I rufuse to give them the satisfaction of shunning me first when I did nothing wrong. I simply decided to take responsiblity for myself and worship God in anyway I see fit by cutting out the middle man. Lilly

tell him that due to his missconduct........ buy allowing himself to be imprisoned in an unthinking mindcontrolling cult you feel it is your god given responsiblity to not even be seen with a represenative of such a dispickable, pagan, man made orginization. bad association spoils usefull habits and a good reputation.

as long as he is a member of a cult which engages in pedophilia and cover ups, along with the blatant absence of love, active destroying of families and disregard for the way that jesus christ lived his life while he was on earth........... you cannot in good conscience speak with him...........

    then invite him to church.......

    I like it...

I like how your reason for shunning him is not just because he's a JW, but because of the way he personally treated you.

I try hard to remember that most JWs are victims of mind control. I don't purposely shun them just because they're JWs. But if any one JW gives me a reason to avoid them, then avoid them I do. Actually, that pretty much goes for anyone who acts like as ass toward me...I avoid them.

That's where the Watchtower policy of shunning and the personal decision to shun do not jive. For JWs, they shun because they're told to...they can't give a good reason why, other than an announcement was made that "so-and-so is no longer a JW". A personal decision to "shun" or avoid someone is based on real reasons...you don't like them, they lied to you, they stole from you, they're just an asshole, etc., but the reasons are legit and can be explained.

Jambon good for you brother. In your neck of the woods I'm surprised a dandruff sandwich wasn't the order of the day. ;-)

hehe... I'm not sure WHAT that quote means in the U.K., but it sounds kind'a "hinky" here in L.A.

What the heck does that mean? ;-) I suppose this is a British feuding style--see who can stick their nose higher in the air? ;-)

Why discriminate? I won't speak to anyone I don't like, not just JWs.

If I see a JW I used to know I won't go out of my way to say hello to him, but I won't refuse civil conversation if they choose to initiate it as long as it's not religious in nature.
