Because the organization is set up by men for men. It's frozen in the perfect little 1950-1960ish mindset where dinner is sitting on the table when Homer Witness comes home from work washing windows or screwin the sheep at the "shepherding call" on the way home.
It's great, the guys who are cool and put in enough cash can even swap out wives every 10 years or so to stay current, and at the most "do' 6 months with good behavior. Hell, if they mess with a kid, no problem, just keep it quiet.
If women "got to" start wearing pants, they might start thinking about wearing the pants like Donnie Darko said. Gotta keep the cows in order, can;t have 'em minglin and thinking they are bulls, too.

There should not be anything wrong with dressing the way you want, as long as you don't look like a hooker.. .actually if a hooker walks into a church that might be good for her maybe it will change her dirty ways.

My community is doing "stings" with female officers undercover as hookers which results in lists of men that hire hookers along with their occupations/church they belong to/ published in local newspapers after they are charged. Huge cab/limo company that provide service to men re: service provided hired hookers driven around to pick up customers in limo, driven around for an hour and then customer dropped off was busted also. Listing names/personal info in the newspapers exposed Doctors in the community, Lawyers, church members etc.
Anyway Bite Me, I think it is a great system re: men in a congregation/org/church whatever, that "dress to code" attending with their wives and children, that hire hookers to provide service required by them- being exposed as hypocrites to the community rawks! re: exposing the men's dirty ways! Therefore a hooker walks into a church dressed as a hooker is not being a hypocrite.
I understood that "dress code" was to show respect for the borg, the problem would be why skirts when a plain blouse, casual dress pants shows just as much respect? Also it is not what people wear, it is their actions that display who they are.
