Great work Searcher
Proselytizing fear was always used as a catalyst for pushing and promoting their literature, essentially contrived lies and BS
The damage to the many lives of individuals that followed these power and money hungry men is profound .
Great story to tell too Lisa ..........thanks for sharing
This stuff brought back alot of memories !
Don't you hate the jargon? "This system of things." Once you get out and turn back to look at it all from a safe distance, you see how crazy the whole thing is and how many lives are wasted.
The sister I studied with had a husband and five children close to my kid's ages.....and THEY packed everything up and moved from a big city in MA to a rural town in TN. They went with two other couples that had children too. I knew others from here in upstate NY that bought the tiny trailer and moved to where the "need was great". They were applauded and commended.
It WAS the ultimate sacrifice and the "big thing to DO" prior to 1975.
Searcher thanks for the memories. We got caught up in it too!

Lenny,
Note to lurkers who are still "in": Every day you remain a part of this colossal farce is one more day you have stolen from your life. Take my word for it, you will never get it back.
A great thought -- Amen.
Lenny
More than interesting. Very important information. BTTT
Does the Watchtower Library CD-ROM Contain this Article and if so what changes were made?
2004 CD (all I have) only goes back as far as 1970.
Wanna hear something freaky. The name of the poster right after me is my sister's name. Just for a moment..I thought..OMG. But she is not her.
Are any of your family still in that are taking care of your parents? Do you hear from them indirectly? They look so nice by the car....doting mom, lovely background...so sad.So utterly sad.........
I went back to look at the picture because I didn't remember the doting mom. I remember a woman that let a man beat her children because they couldn't sit still for two hour periods of time. But, yeah, I guess she did what she thought was right, she does look nice in that picture.
I haven't seen them in 10years. My sister is still in. They live close to her, so I'm assuming that she cares for them. I recently found a cousin, non-JW on myspace. She has caught me up with what she knows. She told me when they don't talk about me and when she has asked they change the subject.
Lisa, you've had pain that no person should ever have to endure. I salute you for coming through it all. Did you come out as a teenager? It must have sickened your parents, but it had to be the best decision you ever made.
I graduated highschool in 1979. I got pregnant, married, Df'd, reinstated, pregnant, df'd, re-married, reinstated, df'd. We are now in the year 1984. Still thought I was a JW until probably 1986. Didn't let it all go until I came to this board, almost 5years ago.
Thanks you all for asking. I had no idea I had an interesting story.
