This is what happens when you tell people you used to be a JW.

I used to have people ask me [when I was an active dub] how to keep Jw's away. Once I was asked if putting an American flag sticker upside down would keep them away? I told them no - but it might piss off the Bircher's in the area.

that's so funny you should say that. my husband told me that he had heard that putting an American flag up would keep JW's away.

I put up two American flags in my back porch area. So far it has worked.

Well - perhaps being known a the local fire-breathing apostate from hell has had something to do with it too.

Nothing works to keep them away! I have a big flag that can literally hit you in the head if you are tall enough on a windy day, a cross, signs, written all the necessary letters, etc... the works! and still they come even with a jw living here! I'm ready to get a paint gun.

    Lisa,

I think that that joke is precious! Hilarious, too! (...and true)

This is what worked for me. Faked interest in the religion, ask questions based on what litature they left for me..., proving that I really read them. ...... then they quit coming back.

I couldn't help but notice the little cross on top of the Kingdom Hall. The artist doesn't know that dubs don't like crosses and that they don't have them on any of the halls.

Oh well, it's a minor detail. I get the point of the strip!

If you start asking them enough questions that are going to expose their origins and that they are not the Truth, they are going to start panicking and run away. And, it might even sow a seed or two of doubt in them, causing them to turn apostate. Works better than pepper spray, a No Trespassing sign, a dog, or even a gun!

I have found that if I tell them I was a JW, and start explaining why I think it's garbage, they "put me on the list" and I don't have to deal with them anymore.

I used to feel that I had no more right to try to change their minds than they had to change mine, but that got old real fast when they kept coming. Sending bigger guns every time. One day a visiting CO came back with some kids for the second time on a Sunday morning, and I finally started spewing all my thoughts on the subject. He got pissed and pointed his finger at me and said "Ma'am, YOU HAVE NO HOPE!" I told him to get off my property before I called the cops. Never got bothered again. :-)
