Well, sort of a jacket story...
We had a couple of young unmarried pioneer brothers in my cong. Lovely guys with a lot of humour (the whole cong was very humorous). One summer, it was a very warm day, one of the pioneer brothers took off his jacket during meeting.
And under the jacket was... a very curly shirt. All of us sitting behind this brother, burst out laughing. The two bachelors had of course only ironed the part of the shirt that was visible under the jacket!
Hilarious!

As a Witness, I was glad to finally find the scripture that backs up the jacket issue, as well as the "white-only dress shirt" mandate for public talks. The scripture: Hezekiah 9:9.

While my hubby was still in and a teenager he was supposed to handle the mikes on a Sunday. But the overseer said no because he was wearing a double breasted suit, and that was too flashy.
The next week the CO was visiting and on Sunday he had on a double breasted suit.
His sister was wearing a long skirt once and was told it was worldly.
HUH?

C.T Russell was a haberdasher. There's your reference for men's attires at "sacred" meetings.

I had a brother pull my hair in the back because he thought it was too long.

I would always have to take a small blanket to cover my legs during the meetings. The brothers in their jackets would crank the air down to "snowball". I felt sorry for them having to wear a suit and tie during the summer.

The wits to which I refer are the ones that would cause us to immediately reply, "In the closet, brother/sister, why?"

I don't have a jacket story, but it would be priceless to see someone inform a nosy JW that the western dress jacket originated in the military and the tie orgininated in Christendom.
