I agree with you 100% restrangled.

I certainly don't expect a mass exodus out of the religion because of this, but hopefully it will affect a few JWs to the point of them to really want to start thinking. It's better than nothing.

I remember when Silent Lambs did their sweep of Middle TN. There was a part on the Ministry School on how to answer people who brought it up in service. Or rather how to brush off the people who brought it up. It was viewed as though the Witlesses were being persecuted by Silent Lambs. I always told people I didn't know the people involved. But if it happened to my kids this is what I would do...

But as it will be now Witlesses will try to sweep it under the rug, just like they did with all the victims now being validated.

They will say it's all lies,half truth,satan,you can't believe the media.Imagine some even recorded these lies,at least that is what they(gb/fds) said in their watchtowers,d.c.,c.a..When the Bill B.story broke he was telling the truth after all but got DF for being true to God.

It will make a difference to those who have suffered at the hands of elders' bad advice. I had gone to the elders many times over the years and never got any real help for my problems.

But, the first time I heard about Bill Bowen--a small article in my local paper--I started to investigate and found the silent lambs website. The fact that this has happened to so many people blew me away! I did not feel so alone anymore and realized that none of the things that happened to me were my fault! I have much more self-esteem now, but still have a long way to go to get this religion out of my life!

Die-hard, non thinking witnesses will dismiss this report as being started by apostates.

So that was why the Watchtower Society had parts warning members about the media? I forgot exactly whether it was in a Great Boasting Session part or a piece of litter-ature (the Great Boasting Session seems more likely), but there was a part that said not to trust critical news media articles and programs about the Watchtower Society.

Because of this, I bet most people are going to brush the whole incident off as more propaganda from Satan. They are going to blame the mass media's persecution for this, rather than look into the matter. Result: Most are simply going to go on as if the whole program was an apostate lie, originated by some apostate that spun a lie out of a trivial issue or a non-issue.

Regardless of the effects on the Witlesses themselves, I bet that it is going to make things harder for them at the door. At every door, they are going to hear "Didn't you [expletive] Jehovah's Witlesses hear about the news of your own pedophile scandal on NBC?". I bet they are going to prepare some Theocraptic Misery "School(??)" and Circus Meeting parts to coerce the public into disregarding the news reports, even preparing some skits to rehearse. Then, when it is practiced in the real thing, people are going to be much smarter than the Witless in the fake rehearsal. Beatings from the Witch Power Libel and Crap Society will follow when people do not respond to the message. "You need to follow EXACTLY what we tell you to say at the door, and do more of it".

Also, in response to diminishing returns at the doors, they are going to start altering "pioneer" requirements. They might even return to minimum calls and studies requirements for publishers and pioneers, and bring the hours back up to what they were just after the war: 150 for pioneers with as many calls and studies as can be handled properly, and 60 for regular publishers and 12 backcalls/return visits. All that just to make up for their own bungling.

jws are taught to view any information outside the WTS as suspect, lies even, after all Satan controls the world. Even with concrete proof and evidence they will say that it is a one-time event and does not happen often. And with the control of information in the congregation and organization of what is really happening, they are not aware of all the cases. Digging deeply into JC matters, etc., gets the elders on your tail threatening df'ing for not "waiting on Jehovah" and "trusting" the "slave." Scares people into backing off.

Many times the WTS will try and turn these negative experiences and news articles, into something positive for them. They have boasted that a lot of (now) JWs have investigated the WTS only to prove them wrong but end up in being convinced "they are the truth" by clever mind manipulation.

THIS negative publicity (AND the truth about the WT Org), will be more difficult to overcome with slick words and twisted teachings because it is NOT based on any "scriptural" understanding, but is dealing with the coverups of the molestation of children and how the WTS "handles" these situations going on all the time.

The MORE this is brought to the public's attention---the better it will be to enforce this in their minds and the impact WILL be felt at the "doors".
