Is it Growth or Boredom?

Lately I have been perusing the forum, and finding that I have little interest in most topics. Jw doctrine is old hat, my basic bitterness over that whole thing is fading, the fluff is of little interest to me. I am dismayed to see that the ugly heads of prophets have risen from the ranks to be frequently on the first page of active topics, and I hope that others are not falling for other 'false prophets' after having discovered Jw's to be such.

Oh well - perhaps it is just boredom. The Trevorgate thing and the WT Comments thing have added to that perhaps. Seems like the board is veering off it's course a bit with these distractions to me.

There are many newbies showing up, so to them I say " Welcome". I hope that at some point you reach the level of lethargy regarding this board I am currently struggling with - I really do believe it is a healthy mark of healing when that happens.

    Jeff~

I, myself have felt a different change. And recently, I was going to leave here. I thought I had learned, gleaned all that I would. I have grown.

What I was missing, I decided to become. And it continues my growth......My wounds are healed. The board gave me a wonderful gift.

The anger is gone, the fear subsided.

I felt that by not leaving here, I was stuck, stagnate. I would be an ex-JW forever. It is who I am, my life and it's ok now. I am not ashamed anymore.

I know the board is here.......I can give, take, feel, think as much as I want to here.

If you want to be here and not feel bored, search deeper inside yourself and find that place where being here in some way can be growth for you.

If it can't be growth, then move on, but the board, the stories, the people, the news, the fluff, the scandels, the new light, the trolls, the drama.........will still be here.

And something you have to say just may help someone grow.

edited to add: also, Jeff, I think the recent airing of Barbara Andersons story has let people open up again......it touches everyone in some way.........it gave us fellow feeling again. Concern, drive and a purpose.....you will feel it.....just give it time.

    G'day Jeff,

I think we've talked abourt this before!

It seems things go round in circles - but isn't life like that? Look at fashion. My goodness, now that we're 'mature' we can probably predict what the next fashion will be!

In politics too, what goes up must come down. As a lad, my father used to say to me, "Be careful what you do to people on the way up because you'll have to meet them on the way down!"

I think the board becomes a comfortable place to visit. Just drop by, say hi to a few then log off. then again, we may see something we can engage in and, voila! we're posting like before.

So long as people feel comfortable with JWD, that's good IMO.

And not forgetting, there's some really good friendships built over the years on JWD.

    So, it's good.

    Cheers, Ozzie

Boredom is a sure sign it's time to take a break. It doesn't hurt to ask once in a while, "Why am I here?"

Yep, you're going to have to find a new internet hobby or start getting out of the house more. I left for a little bit. I'd peek in every now and then; but didn't respond to any of the posts. I'd use to be on here 24/7 not anymore. Find something else to do.

I'll go thru a phase where I post alot and vent...but we are all at different levels of exiting, Some are over it and just leave others just want some friends.

yeah, I've been posting less than a year and I have started to see the same themes come up over and over. I don't care, if it's a been there done that thread I just don't read it any more. I like hearing what's happening with the people on the forum - things they are going through, life stories, and some give and take. In other words, I guess I like the community. I'm way over the JW stuff, although I see it still affects my life in some ways, but it's history for the most part. I can see that some day I'll be less involved, because it's really vicarious living, but for now it is fun and I like the folks here.
