THIS IS THE BIBLE PASSAGE...

That got me out of the WT organization.

John 35 -38 Jesus said, "I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever. I have told you this explicitly because even though you have seen me in action, you don't really believe me. Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don't let go. I came down from heaven not to follow my own whim but to accomplish the will of the One who sent me.

This is from The Message Bible. When I read it - really read it - for the first time, it's as though it were speaking directly to me. I KNEW then and there that the JW's are being misled.

My daughter stubbornly hangs on - going to all the meetings, assemblies, and whatever. I think she does it out of sheer spite and perversity. Little heifer!!!

Have you ever asked her why she goes?

    Thanks for sharing snowbird.

It is sad to see so many hang on to the religion simply because they're told they must in order to be blessed by God. The Org is actually taking the place of Christ by doing that. It's so simple yet the religion makes it complicated.

I don't mean to thread-hijack, but the thing that made me realize the JWs were being misled was reading through the book of Acts. I read through it twice in one morning. I couldn't see any resemblence between the JWs and first century Christianity.

    Thank you again snowbird.

    Little heifer!!!

Snowbird, I have not heard that expression in so long, it brought back pleasant memories of my sisters and cousins from long ago before we all got involved in that cult...it was a term of endearment to be called that by one of my sisters or cousins, odd as that sounds We were raised in Mississippi and Alabama and I think that term is unique to that area. I'm very happy for you by the way that you have faith in God and the bible, it's something I just don't have...but I would never fault anyone else for feeling that way. Sandi

Yes, and the answer is partly what Bite Me said and because she thinks JW's are the best. It's all she has known; she's 18 and self-supporting; so I have to bite my tongue a lot.

"Little heifer'" is indeed a term of endearment and also of exasperation. Whenever I used to get on my mother's nerves with my endless questions, she would say, "Get on out of here, Little Heifer, and find something else to do!" Oh, the memories...

    R. F., I also read the Acts of the Apostles through and through and I agree: The WTS is as far from 1st century Christianity as Islam from Judaism!

So, she believes that she needs a religion to be at one with God? No matter what dumb stuff they do that's what she believes? Damn! Is that what she thinks? What about her personal relationship with God, what about when Jesus says to keep working towards your OWN salvation?

Yes, to all the above. I'm patient because I believed the same for a while. The day is coming when it's all going to come crashing down. When it does, I'll be there to help her pick up the pieces.

She's in a university now on a full scholarship and intends to pioneer when she's done with college!!!

Many of us forget that when you are in the JWs you do get something from it, even if it is not that much.

The Watchtower can bring people a number of differant things. It gives you the feeling that you know what most people see as unknowable. It gives you security, pride, a superior feeling, control, direction, and much more.

While much of what the WTS gives a person comes down to the fulfillment of selfish desires, I don't think we should be to hard on those stuck in the mindset. Many of us where in the same position and fought the idea of letting go because we loved the little we received from it.

Good news there. College does a number on the whole mind-control thing. Good luck!
