I just feel I must respond to this again. Im very proud of you as a Dad that you would keep your son's best interest at heart. My grandma died in 2003 and left $1000 each for my brother and I. My Dad has witheld that money to this day, even when I was so broke I couldnt afford medication. When Amanda and I first separated and I was down to one income, I was living on canned soup and had to scrape gas money in order to visit my Mom.

Im so proud of you for doing the right thing for your son, I wish I had a Dad like you.

Thanks Guys!!! Especially kw13 who sees this from the kids perspective and hopefully knows that I was not tooting my own horn as lots of kids get SOOOOOOO much more from all their rich family and friends. But I wanted to share how great it was to do this FOR THE FIRST FRIKKIN TIME in my life! I feel like I have sooooooooo much to make up for..................oompa

yeah, honestly what you did was fantastic - a son needs a dad in many ways and one of those may well be financially - plus the birthday side of things is cool, its probably done him some good and you some good too.

I will as well, and no I'm not kidding...

College is expensive! Don't judge me!

Anyways, jokes aside, wow oompa, I am just amazed by that and I know your son felt really good after what you did, especially after all those years of the heartache. I remember my first bithday present from my grandad or whatever and I had never had anything given on my birthday and its hard for kids to go through that, but hey, it wasn't the end of the world. But he gae me my first bike and I still remember that bike too and how it made me feel to get it on a day that wasn't suppose to mean anything.

Again, its hard to make it from one day to the next, How the Hell can your Birthday not Mean anything, people?! Logic? its a reason people celebrate it! Just had to throw that out there. You dont have to have cake or throw a party but dammit, I made it to ___ (insert your age here)years old and I wanna be recognized for it! All I'm saying

Thanks OTWO and all the kind comments. The line for ladies and college babes to sit on my lap starts HERE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I forgot to mention to all that my wife and I had a regrettable argument/discussion Sunday about many things regarding how FDS WT go beyond the Bible and Jesus teachings and have rules more like the Pharisees. The one item I kept going going back to was Birthdays! I have not reviewed WT material on this in years due to being raised in, but there is NOTHING biblical about this position. SO WHAT if the only two birthdays had bad things happen on them and the guys were pagan??? As many frikkin rules and regs as god put on the jews you would think there would be one for birtdays if it was wrong to do......I mean it gets down to where you can and cant spray your own SPERM!!! and yet wont tell you if you can have a birtday cake????????......pisses me off........and does anyone know if jews have a history of celebrating their birthdays, and did any in early christianity???????????????..........................................................oompa

I think the Watchtower causes this fear of demons and spiritism to the point whereas people stop being reasonable. MANY things in our culture hae pagan beginnings, but you don't think about them or give them forethought, yet it doesn't mean that you are given homage to some God from hundreds of years ago.

Like, for example, do you know how many practices we have about taking care of our dead and their bodies that originated with religion? Plus you ahve to take into account that whatever could not be explained through science was of course explained through mysticism so...

Yeah lost the train of thought. Plus saying birthdays are bad is insane since those two separate accounts of birthdays were written in different periods.

I don't know, it seems very stupid when I think about it, and not because, "OMGz, my life was ruined because I didn't have a cake!!!1one11" but because of such restrictions on such little things that should have been up to personal decisions- which is why its so..... culty!

But again, babbling. I just had to agree with oompa on how there are so many laws on this and that and you'd think they'd rule ot or birthday cake or say don't celebrate your birthday. I mean, shit Jehovah had a Festival for whenever he farted or some ish and made sure his people kept with and kept to it right or else somebody got smited, and made sure his people threw a celebration with wine and partying, and we can't throw one for living another year?

    Whatevs, God. Whatevs.

    Or rather whatev Watchtowers, Whatevs.
