if its one thing that i learned its to listen carefully what the bros and sis say during the meeting and i see that they repeat stuff like a parrot imitating its master Polly wanna cracker, Polly wanna cracker. and sometimes they do this with out even thinking about it because it is already mention in the paragraph. as soon as somebody says contradictory of what the WT says ppl who were asleep would wake up and say WTF did he or she say but they wont even dare question it huuum!
Does any real learning take place at the Kingdom Hall?

Ditto Restrangled.
I also learn how to be a really good liar as a teenager - leading my double life. I learned how to act totally straight around my mother when I was high as a kite. I learned how to iron the Sunday meeting clothes while tripping on LSD.
I still zone out , even after 30+ years out of there, when I am bored and people don't even know it, they think I am in to what is happening....

Oh, and I forgot - facing certain death for my evil sins in the fall of 1975, the KH and the JW also taught me not to fear death - AT ALL.

No learning
Just further brainwashing and indoctrinations.
And the only social life they will have with VERY conditional friends.

The best word I can think to describe the learning done at the Kingdom Hall is limited.
While there are things that are true being taught at the Kingdom Hall the gains made in knowledge and understanding are resrticted do the the biased nature of the teaching. Factor in all of the misinformation and illogicial arguments used and you come out with a loss.
Do not also forget that most of the material covered at the Kingdom Hall is recirculated and reused. How many times can you 'learn' the same doctrine of paradise?

Mouthy, I bet you just have a natural knack for public speaking. After 36 yrs there I didn't learn how to relax and speak well until I did Community Theatre and then joined Toastmasters....Toastmasters really teaches you a lot but I hate being locked into every Wed nite. Not good for my schedule. Would rather have a day meeting. Pretty nice folks there too.

I came in as an adult. One of the first things I noticed at the meetings was the simplistic question and answer session. I was embarrassed for them. I felt it was like third grade reading comprehension: simply read the paragraph and then parrot what you read. The sad part was that there were a few individuals who actually struggled to do this.
As far as actual 'knowledge' is concerned, I cringe at the memory of somebody who bragged to me that they studied a book in addition to the Truth book because they wanted more 'knowledge'. I guess I was supposed to be impressed and go out and acquire more of these 'pearls' of wisdom.
As far as asking if you learn anything there - I know it is pathetic but if you are ignorant and illiterate then it is a step up.

I learned how to sleep with only one eye shut at a time so my mom who was on my right could see my left eye and think I was really paying attention, does that count? But then the HEATHEN child that sat in front of me had the nerve to not pay attention, looked back and thought I was winking at him. But seriously, Robots cant learn they can only be PROGRAMED and that is why most are here, to deprogram. Gone

Well, their is an old say, " you learn more from mistakes , than from your success". JW's would be the smartest people around, if they could only tell the difference between the two.
