This is my first one too...It's fake, but we decorated it very nicely, and the colors we chose for bulbs and decorations (turquoise, green, fuschia) match the pillows in the sofa. So it's all good. The colors sound weird, but trust me--me and wifey are very modern in our decoration style. It all look nice...we like turning off all the lights and just leaving it on while we chat in the living room...

My husband wouldn't dream of having a fake tree. Get a real one. Nothing beats the smell of a real pine tree in your home.

this is my first real christmas as well. and this is my first tree. me and the wifey went with a 7.5' tree. its very nice looking and the lights and all the decorations make it look perfect. i was so excited to actually enjoy a christmas that we got the tree and most of the gifts before thanksgiving and put the tree up 4 days before thanksgiving! we went silver, blue, and red, with some white. i remeber as a kid going to the worldy kids houses as a kid growing up and seeing candy canes on the tree so i just had to do that too, and smelling the tree. id like a real tree later on just for that smell. i dont think the air freshners that they make for fake trees to smell like real one are even tree smelling.

I would love a real one again! Though I had a hard enough time getting hubby BEFORE he was a jw to recut the bottom of the darn thing and get it to stand straight I don't think he will be much help now! Maybe one year I will rent a husband and my jw can go sleep at the kh for the entire season. Sounds like a fair trade to me, he doesn't have to put up with all this so called paganism and I can pretend to have a husband who gives a rats ass. A win win situation! One even the elders can love.

Mine is fake prelit. I love the real ones but I hate to see them thrown out after Christmas. It just seems so wasteful and wrong. They smell incredible though- can't get that smell from a fake one

Fake trees are environmentally NON-friendly. They are made with nasty chemicals, some of them toxic and hazardous to your health. Real trees are better. :)

Big D,
Tell me, will you go all out and decorate the entire tree this year? Why do I ask? because in the years I have been reading ex jw's I have found that some start out with just a tree (maybe even hide it in the bedroom), the next year they may decide to actually put lights on and move it into the living room! finally they decide to buy ornaments and put those on the next year to finally have a completely decorated tree! Then again some go hog wild and decorate the house, yard, and every square inch of the house! Funny, I see a yard that goes more nuts every year and I picture some ex jw giving the proverbial 'finger' to any jw's who know they may live there. Yes, strange fantasies I know.

Personally I prefer real ones as they smell nicer and makes you feel you are actually out in the forest. Cool feeling ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
