i thought the wtbts didn't have any ownership over the kingdom halls, but there's a thing where they can take possession of them if they stop being used.

that was in a thread a while back, can't remember the thread, but it clears the wtbts of any "actual" ownership, making them seem less $$$, even though they have full say as to what happens to the property and when the "great tribulation" is announced, I wonder if they will be a "just sign your kh over to us here" contract so they can all pull together....then the top brass go buy the rest of brooklyn.

anyway, someone here explained how kingdom halls are owned and foreclosure would be through a bank and the congregation's responsibility since the wtbts has "nothing to do with it".

hurray for the continued idiocy of the wtbts. too bad only a few people are in the know on this stuff.....and the minute anyone is found questioning and doesn't get their head back into the wtbts mindset is in line to be df'ed for apostacy....which means the word could never really get out.

Is this something that the dept of L&I would want to take a look at?

This is an interesting behind the scenes peek, are there any other older threads about the RBC that anybody knows of? I'm going to search.

I believe those contractors who volunteer their time and equiptment say the cost is X amount and say that is a voluntary donation.Which is an inflated price, they get a tax receipt which helps their bottom line.Who care about all the deceit, lies, crooks God knows. The only sad part, many are fooled by this poor excuse of a religion.

To answer the disaater/Katrina question: Yes, the RBC is behind the relief work.

In the case of Katrina, a list was made of all those affected and geeding repairs. The RBC did the work of gutting and putting back roofs, walls, etc., making the structure sound. Things like painting, flooring and such were left to the homeowner.

I heard many complaints of the brothers not getting to their home soon enough and know of many who contracted the work out.

The magnitude of Katrina caught the RBC by surprise and they were very frustrated.

I also know that it was "suggested" of those that received help that the "contribute" their insurance money to the Society.

I also know that it was "suggested" of those that received help that the "contribute" their insurance money to the Society.

I heard, but don't know if it's gospel truth, that after repairs were completed by the relief group, that a "bill" of what it would have cost was given to the JW homeowner to let him know what it would have cost if he had to pay for it out of pocket.

If that was true, it was a good way to guilt the person to signing over their insurance check over to the WTS.

And if that was true and the majority of dubs did sign over the money to them, it was quite the windfall for the Society. Even if they bought the materials, all the labor was free. And since we've seen how the RBC tends to "quote" their projects higher than other contractors, I bet any "bill" presented was heavily padded.

I applaud the individual JWs who give of their time and resources to help out in disaster relief. It is one of the few things that can bring the brothers/sisters together as a brotherhood. What's sinister is how the WTS ends up manipulating these situations so they can make money from it. And its almost impossible to try to criticize the program because it comes off as looking like the mad ramblings of a demon-inspired apostate.

The comments in this thread are at total variance with my experiences with RBC. My business provided security systems for many Kingdom Halls in the area over about 10 years. I provided my labor at no charge, and charged only my cost for materials. There was no profit involved. If the comments above are true, this must vary by area. In addition, I provided monthly monitoring service at my cost for years. Only recently, after years of being inactive, have I raised their rates to the going rate, and most have cancelled their contracts.

The congregation where my publisher's card is currently at had to have their roof redone. Materials alone would have costed about $9,000 and they were thinking they could use several local JWs to do the work. Enter the RBC, and they said that if they were to have several people on the roof who were not professional roofers, then the scafolding ALL around the rather large KH would be required. To rent that as well for two weekends (since they knew they wouldn't have enough hands to complete the job in just one) would have added another $3700 according to the RBC's quote.

That congregation just ended up paying a non-jw company to do the job for $12500. No headaches about getting volunteers and headaches on trying to feed the volunteers that would have for sure added another few hundred dollars onto the project.

Unfortunately the RBC is completely in on the project to redo the wallpaper, carpets, tiles and fencing.
