    The generation now refers to the anointed.

    It is possible to relate the generation to the anointed now because they changed the fact that the anointed was sealed in 1935. So people today can claim to be anointed.

    Before the sealing change they couldn't refer to the generation as anointed because "they will by no means pass away", and so they should have done so very shortly (the fact the number of anointed has been around 8,000 for 20+ years is another topic).

    I found what the WTBTS was talking about in the above instruction manual.

    Hi all!

    Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I READ JWD's word daily and am learning much! Many thanks to you all...

    Anyhow, after carefully reading through this latest serving of 'food at the proper time' I noted so many qualifiers; e.g.

    Paragraph 1 - 'to what do those 'expressions' refer?;

    Paragraph 2 - what is the 'underlying(?) meaning' (I guess now there is a regular meaning and an UNDER (LYING) meaning(!);

    Paragraph 3 - 'It COULD be stated' (then again, it could also NOT);

    Paragraph 4 - more stuff that is 'evident'

    Paragraph 5 - 'in our lifetime' - HAVE TO GET THAT IN at some point, obviously - or else HOW is it RELEVANT?

    Paragraph 6 - 'short period of time'

    Paragraphs 8 and 9 - that explanation 'seemed reasonable' ?? - also interesting use of the term 'IT WAS FELT' - does that relate to the 'feeling' they get when something is revealed to them?

    Paragraph 11 - more of the 'NO DOUBT' scenario

    The kicker for me was paragraph 15 where this anointed class supposedly UNDERSTOOD the true meaning 'like a flash of lightning' but here they are stumbling all over themselves trying to explain why the didn't figure it out properly the FIRST TIME...

    No wonder you need 5 meetings a week - just to keep rehashing the twists and turns....

    Glad to be FREE (mentally at least!)

    If they were to do a correct method of instruction when they have this waktower study they should at the end of it ask if anybody has got any questions or if anybody is still confused thereby clearing away any misleading misconceptions. It would be interesting to ask the question directly from the floor " why did we believe in the old understanding in the first instance? " Someone could ask "is this the very last interpretation of the generation teaching?" or ask "how much confidence should we have in this current understanding?"

    The problem is that nobody openly asks at any meeting any really challenging questions.The only answers and questions given are those already thought out for the congregation .It's a bit like someone holding a banana standing on the platform and saying "what have I got in my hand?" and having the word banana written in big letters displayed for all to see. They use the same method when they change theology by saying " we used to call it a banana but now it's a lovely bunch of coconuts,what is it boys and girls? altogether now.

    Does this mean it's the truth like last time?

    "Evidently" must the the WBTS' favorite word.

    Strange though, how what's "evident" one year is 'disfellowshipable' (if one decide to publicly still believe and spread it) the next.

    I just read the study article and I feel sick to my stomach. The WTBTS is again making it up as they go along. As much as I want to think this article will help people wake up and realize they're wasting their time serving a book publishing company whose promises are complete illusions, I don't think that's going to happen. I was a naive teenager when the last new light came out on this topic back in 1995. I ate it up. I was ecstatic. I couldn't shut up about how wonderful it was to be getting the great flashes of new light. Nobody I know left over the change. In fact, the congregation I was attending at the time has experienced a lot of growth since and has recently split.

    The more things change the more they stay the same.

    Many still apparently don't understand how Witness Bible logic works. Here's how it works: The Bible tells a story, the Society calls the original story the "type". Original stories have a first application (typical) and a second application applied to the Society today (the atypical). Whatever the Society applies the second application to is called the "antitype".

    Here's an example:

    The Watchtower December 1, 1970 p. 714 par. 4 The Desolator of Christendom Historically Prefigured
    4 Thus modern Christendom had an ancient pattern in an ancient organization to which she corresponds and which she resembles. Christendom follows the example of that ancient pattern and thus she has similar things befall her. That ancient pattern is called the "type." Because of resembling that ancient pattern, Christendom is called the "antitype." For that reason Bible prophecies that were fulfilled upon the ancient type have already been fulfilled or will yet be fulfilled upon the modern antitype, namely, upon Christendom. The Christian apostle Peter, when writing his inspired letters in first-century Greek, used the word "antitype." So, in 1Peter 3:21 we read: "That which corresponds to this [or, literally, which thing is an antitype] is also now saving you, namely, baptism." Consequently, the ancient type shows us what its modern antitype will be like; and what befell the ancient type indicates prophetically what must befall its modern antitype, namely, Christendom, in this case.

    *************

    The "generation" doctrine is the current guess at who the "antitype" generation is.

    Religious Witnesses aren't smart enough to understand what the last change means, and social Witnesses won't care.
