Due to the "generations" doctrine, we calculated 2001 at the latest...then the doctrine was dropped!!! Recently the last World War 1 vetran died in Australia. He was 17 in 1916. Like Rutherford when I heard this I realized "I have made an Ass out of myself" regarding the generation doctrine. 2008 and no sign of the end.....better start planning for the future in this system of things I guess. I'm very pissed off.

Many are very hurt by the lies we were told relating to the generation. They will never say ,"WE WERE WRONG" that is the disturbing part.

I recall a brother who died few years back, an elder and a promiment JW at my country, and we were doing some work at the cementry of JW's. And he said I don't think that this system could carry more than 5-6 years. For sure the end will come very soon.

    IT WAS 1984....

Had a similar experience. It was in 1990 during the CO's visit. During his talk that Sunday he mentioned that the some of the youth didn't believe in the urgency of living for Jehovah. Then he said in a very powerful voice and I quote "We have less than 5 years left in this system." Then he pulled out a string to demonstrate time and where we were in the stream of time. Then he ended his talk by saying and I quote "Where will you be in 5 years? Dead or alive?" Of course the audience applauded like crazy. Wow..that was almost 18 years ago!!!

Then several years later with the 1995 generation change...well that just blew his 5-year theory out the water.

Yep, I'm an ass, too. I could have gone to college, married, had a family, financial stability, and in just a few more years from now been a grandfather.

But I listened attentively throughout the 80s and did as I was told. Now I'm still stuck in for the sake of my family. They seem to be moving closer to the point of saying "ENOUGH" after the pedophile scandal and as the Society demands more subservience and provides nothing but unfulfilled promises in return. Okay, I'm also trying to keep ahold of my inheritance... and I don't mean my "spiritual inheritance".

    Welcome, bluesteel.

It seems you aren't "up to speed" on new light.

Ironically, perhaps very few JWs are at the moment. The doctrine you mention is changed wholesale in the January 2008 Watchtower study edition. From then on (not sure when 'new light' actually takes effect... is it when people read it or when it's printed?), the "generation" that is supposed to live and witness Armageddon is now the anointed as a group. And following another speck of 'new light' in 2007, new 'anointed' will now be allowed, not just replacements for people who have 'fallen away', but "brand new" 'anointed'. Which means it may all take a while...

how is the WT a fraud?

One definition of 'fraud' I found on Google, is: "The intentional perversion of the truth in order to mislead someone into parting with something of value."

A fraud would be someone who guarantees people that something will happen, and strings them along with false promises that don't come true, asking them to change their life and sacrifice certain things to get there. In the WTS's case, they say they are acting on behalf of God, which would be the highest authority in the universe (and beyond). But their distribution of "divine" "light" shows they have no such connection. It's not a steadily progressing understanding of certain truths as "light getting brighter" would assume - rather, as time goes by and nothing happens, they replace past "truths" for new ones, and still claim them all to come from God. People have - in the worst scenarios - lost their homes and lives because of this. So yes, I call fraud.

the best thing to do is use the anger as energy to set new goals for yourself.

I left 20 years ago. I had no idea what would happen to me.

In that 20 years I have:
    gotten a college degree
had a successful career as a management consultant
started a new career as a market research analyst
had a 19 year wonderful relationship with a partner I love
    travelled all over North America.
and done many other things i wouldn't have done if i kept thinking
that the end was coming at any point.

they surprised me with the change to the end won't come until the annointed
are dead thing. there are many young annointed now, lots my age and younger
so, those last 10,000 will probably remain constant for a long time.

i predict the 1914 doctrine will be phased out by 2010. something like,
we have been in the time of the end since Jesus was here.

The witnesses change the date of Armagedon so frequently. It might be because He has so many appointments on armagedons he keeps rescheduling ours.

Welcome to The Armageddons Never Came Followers Band....

I feel the same..I feel anger, rage, that a banch of False Prophets ruined my life, my dads life and they will ruin my kids life.

We are free and happy, but many of us still suffer from family loss, separetion, divorce, shunning and all the EVIL things that Watchtower did to us

I just wanna my life back, my childhood years, all the thinks that they have stolen from us...I hate them, and I wish that God holds a place in them in Hell. This is were the GB and the WT should be

    {I know I'm gonna be a very angry old man}

That's not going to do you, or anyone else, any good. I hate the BORG too for what they did to me and how I had to choose between loved ones, family, friends and the real TRUTH.

But, in the end, if you've discovered what's real and what's not real, you should be very thankful.

    Cheers,

    Alex
