It was for me. I was able to duck that thing for months.
For faders: Is the book study meeting the first to go?

One important thing in a fade is to duck the elders. It's okay if they know you are
missing, but duck them. It's much easier for them to try to catch you at the end of
the bookstudy, and encourage you (to get your ass to more meetings and field circus).
They can't do that if you aren't there.Mine was a calculated fade. I stepped aside as an elder. I had been the bookstudy
overseer. Another elder conducted while they were contacting Borg HQ to get permission
for me to step aside (What a joke- I told them they could get permission, but I was done.)
Once they had Borg approval for me to stop eldering, they tried to transfer me to a
different bookstudy. Well, I just NEVER showed up.Maybe the elder there thought my feeling were hurt or whatever, but I never heard from him,
so I never showed up EVER. Once it was established that Brother OTWO was "weak" and
missing meetings, it was easier and easier to miss the TMS/SM, and the Talk/WT Study.
I dwindled attendance at these meetings for less than 6 months, then just stopped going. If it's difficult to skip meetings entirely, then arrive late and leave early. That works for the
full congregation meetings but not so great for bookstudy. Leaving early is important. Get
out at least at the end of the prayer, do not let elders stop you. "Sorry, gotta go. See ya
next time." -

I just left 10 minutes into the public talk. Went cold turkey. Never looked back! Its been over 10 years. Who cares. I can't even give you the date and year. Just don't care. I did not want to play the fading game. GH

I played a different game. I would start going to the other congregation in the Kingdumb Hell part of the time, with no pattern. Then I started skipping the meetings. It would not fit into any pattern. I might skip a Circus Meeting one week and go to the book study. Or I might skip the Public Talk/Puketower study. Gradually, I skipped more and more, showing up just enough so they would think I am still going but that each side just missed me. Again, no pattern.
Eventually, I just went to a few book studies. That way, it was just an hour every 3 or 4 weeks. Only when I absolutely had to pick up my 4 or 5 months supply of litter-ature that backed up at the litter-ature counter would I attend where I could do so. And, then one day I decided that I just wouldn't be going back.
In fact, the last meeting I went to was the Crapmorial of 2005, and then I went to the wrong one. I bet they thought I went to the wrong one again in 2006, but instead of going, I bought a Ouija board. I also never bothered to do any field circus or report any after June 2005 (I didn't even bother reporting my time for that month, either).
