    Hi SMS

    Interesting:

"My wife said that some speaker (CO) actually said that children should not be in pre-school unless they have a single parent."

I read on another thread that pre-school was being knocked - keeps the kids from being socialised, a lot of pre-school activities are focused around the worldly holidays and the mums and dads might actually meet non-JW parents that seem like normal reasonable people

"Two parent income appears to be discouraged."

My older brother (Elder PO hardline) said a while back he couldn't understand why there would ever be a need for both in a couple to work full time and be spiritual. Spiritual defined as lots of meetings, field service, personal study. Education is being discouraged from every angle.

    "Stupid people follow better."

Wouldn't say stupid. I'd say undereducated people follow best.

I expect there to be another Kool-Aid WT with more control information on how to raise children, perhaps advocating home schooling where possible.

:Of 43 studies carried out since 1927 on the relationship between religious
:belief and one's intelligence and/or educational level, all but four found
:an inverse connection. That is, the higher one's intelligence or education
:level, the less one is likely to be religious or hold "beliefs" of any kind

I couldn't agree more. You can almost derive linear correlation between level of stupidity and how much somebody or a community, culture etc had been influenced by religion.

For instance, more advanced countries of EU tend to be secular and those backward ones have been strongly influenced by "Christian tradition". Look at south America what do you see? Middle east what do you see? Even in States wherever there is a strong influence of "Christianity" of any sort what do you see? Then look at liberal places such as California let say San Francisco, what do you see??

The answer is loud and clear

They have policies against anything that might lead a person away from them. Such are independent thinking, getting an education (and, if the education is fully integrated, it's even worse), using the Internet, small independent Bible study groups, and using independent sources to validate the Watchtower doctrine or the accuracy of the New World Translation. And now watching the media.

All they want people to do is spend all their time in field circus. And that takes more study in the Theocraptic Misery "School(???)" than anything else. And, if they know nothing else, they are not going to start asking questions or thinking something that is going to have them outside the organization. And lately, it takes only a third grade education and total following of the "suggestions" from the Circus Meeting, the Kingdumb Misery, and the False Reasoning book. No wonder all they know is to come up with stock answers at the boasting sessions and in defending their faith when attacked by those who know better.

So the WTS has a belief system that fundamentally attracts undereducated people to join and a higher education policy to keep the young JW's undereducated and therefore in the system.

    Of course ...that is what they plainly say. Studies such as you mention would be used as evidence how "spiritully dangerous " it is to go to higher education . Parents do not want their children losing the faith, now do they ? {better a integrity keeping window cleaner than an unfaithful scientist, even if he did own a Porche and have an otherwise successful life}

Incidentally, I do not confuse the ability to pass exams with true intelligence. I was impressed with Daniel Goleman's work on Emotional Intelligence which places more emphasis on the rounded out person than passing I Q tests and succeeding in the education system.

As for working mothers, I read this today. Feb 1st 2008 WT p31

After taking stock of the situation some couples decide that the advantages of having the wife care full time for the family outwwegh any any monetary sacrifice that must be made

They say it is a personal decision but it is strongly advocating it if possible..

Unfortunately for the WTS, they are too stupid to realize that controlling people's behavior does not change them inside. In other words, going out in service more does not assuage the fears and doubts anyone has about the organization. It just keeps them busy enough to feel like they're doing something important, but apathetic enough to be depressed about the world.

I respectfully disagree - I don't think it is stupidity. I think they know full well that people will not change "on the inside", and they don't care. So long as they have the power, prestige, and control over other people's lives, "the brothers" can believe or think whatever the bloody hell they want. Just don't try to usurp their authority by telling others if you disagree - you'll be gone in a New York minute.

By modifying behavior, they exercise control over others. They are drunk on the power they wield. They are, in effect, "kings" of a worldwide community of 6.5M+.

The whole organization reminds me of a beehive of mostly ignorant workers(who they'd like to sterilize) along with a few drones for reproduction purposes and keeping the workers in line, all blissfully working together serving big mother, the queen.

This is true, my JW wife is actually talking to these worldly women at our pre-school. They sometime even go to the park for a play day.

My older brother (Elder PO hardline) said a while back he couldn't understand why there would ever be a need for both in a couple to work full time and be spiritual. Spiritual defined as lots of meetings, field service, personal study. Education is being discouraged from every angle.

WOW!! An elder in my hall said that my wife should not let the children's homework get in the way of her meeting attendance, since they are NOT going to college. Just pass each class. Excessive HW is a waste of time.

"Stupid people follow better." Wouldn't say stupid. I'd say undereducated people follow best.

You are correct. Stupid is sooo harsh of a word.

Theses hardline policies will only make many leave the org. in larger numbers.
