I think J-ex-W was looking into this around the beginning of the year. She didn't tell me if she'd heard back from Oprah though.

Daisy Boo - did you see any coverage on the whole Oprah / south african school saga????? Sometimes I'm sure they do media blockages. Besides we only get Oprahs' shows about 6 months after they've already aired.

Hi Lou
I haven't actually seen an Oprah episode on the Sexual Assault issue here, but I did hear about her reaction to it and the press release.
Thanks for your comments and ideas folks... interesting reading!

If someone could get her to take a look at the NBC clip, that might spark her somewhat. Getting Barbara on Oprah would be quite a coup with her CD and insight.

The thing I see is that Oprah knows that sexual abuse is not just a JW thing. She wants to combat it at all levels, I would think. The laws and policies need to be changed and updated to make all institutions, including religious ones, to be accountable for the pedophiles in their midst and to cooperate fully and immediately with law enforcement and other secular organizations. Concentrating on a small group of 6.5 million people is not enough. SNAP is fighting on the forefront with the Catholic Church and is now working with non-Catholic religious groups as well, including Silentlambs. Every victory they have is a victory for abuse victims in every religious group. BTW, SNAP's president, Barbara Blaine is a lawyer in Chicago. I have no doubt that she has been in contact with Oprah and her organization.

I would like Oprah to start bashing the witlesses for many reasons. The pedophile issue is one of them. Also, the issue of busting families, hounding members to bring in all their relatives, having people encouraged to work with witless bosses and have witless landlords, having children not be able to have a normal life at school, the fact that children are regularly expected to stay up past 10:00 PM on school nights, and that they have so many rules that they do not tell people that are just going in would be excellent topics to discuss on Oprah.
If they do that, then the witlesses are going to have even worse embarrassment. It seems everyone watches Oprah, and that kind of discussion would make the witlesses have a much harder time at the doors. Of course, they would still be oblivious about it thanks to mister Jaracz. But, every time they don't recruit anyone because of some embarrassment means one less toward them making their 7 million next year.
