    Great movie!

In all the cases in the Bible of ressurection (correct me if I am wrong), occur shortly after death...the daughter of that army dude in NT.

The son of that widow brought back by elijah or elisha (I forget), Lazarus who was dead for a day? 2 days? (I'm going from memory here)

I don't recall anyone being brought back from the dead that was already decomposed. It would make sense that by miracle, the cells could be regenerated back into life...(Heroes is a good show to illustrate regeneration)....

but as for a body that where even the bones have totally gone back to dirt, all molecules that were once part of a human body now disintegrated and absorbed by insects, worms, fish (for the drowned) and excreted as feces...(yay we turn into poop)

There is nothing left....so god would have to create ALL over again from scratch another human body. Spooky. No thanks.

Apparently. Not sure if you ever watched Star Trek Enterprise, but there was one episode where Tripp was nearly killed and the only way to save him was through a cloning technique that would make an exact replica of himself. The doctor would then harvest what he needed to save the 'real' Tripp, the clone would theoretically die and that would be the end of it. Complications arose however, when the cloned Tripp didn't want to sacrifice himself as he had all the memories of the 'master copy' throughout his life. In the end, he did sacrifice himself so the original could live. The basic problem I see with the Watchtower's interpretation of the resurrection, is that they never stop to consider that you're simply a clone of the original. The cases in the bible where a physical resurrection actually took place can't really be used, as these people were dead no more than 3 days. There was the case where Elijah or Elisha (can't remember) prayed over the body of the widow's son who had died, and I think after the 3rd day, he was restored to life. Then there's Lazarus---he was dead for 3 days wasn't he? And then Jesus himself----dead and resurrected after 3 days. Assuming these stories are true, the difference is, their original bodies had not disintegrated yet so in essense, God simply repaired the damage done from being dead for 3 days and restored them to life. However, you cannot use the same scenario for someone who's been dead for hundreds or thousands of years simply because the body HAS disintegrated into nothing. So at the most, you'd be a carbon copy or a clone of the original body. This subject should really be titled: Questions You Will Not Get From Readers

If you die, and your body disinegrates, and the soul doesnt live on; in fact, NOTHING lives on

Of course, when I need it, I cant find my trusty old bible. But I know there is a scripture that says, when you die, your "spirit" returns to God, the one who created it.

The Bible book of Hebrews chapter 11 lists by name men and women who faithfully served God. They as well as those loyal servants of God who have died in recent years will be among the resurrected ones. What about people who failed to meet God’s standards of righteousness, perhaps because of a lack of knowledge? Are they also in God’s memory? Yes, many are, for the Bible promises: “There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”— Acts 24:15 .

However, not everyone who has ever lived will receive a resurrection. “If we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth,” states the Bible, “there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, but there is a certain fearful expectation of judgment.” ( Hebrews 10:26, 27 ) Some committed sins for which there is no forgiveness. They are not in Hades (mankind’s common grave) but in Gehenna, a symbolic place of eternal destruction. ( Matthew 23:33 ) We must be careful, though, not to speculate on whether a certain person will be resurrected or not. This judgment belongs to God. He knows who is in Hades and who is in Gehenna. For our part, we do well to live our lives according to God’s will.

God then makes the copy perfect and proceeds to kill the original.... you.

Damn, this is creepy. Seriously, how did I never realize how creepy it was?

I like the critical thinking in this tread . Why did it never occur to me when I was a dub. Actually I can recall a Catholic man asking me what God could resurrect if nothing survived death? - It still did not worry me though.

In response to Mary I recall an Instructor at an elders school describing the subject and saying tht the apostle Paul had only to give the boy who fell from the window the "kiss of life" (CPR) and say a prayer - whereas Jesus wanted to prove his power and really resurrect Lazurus, so he delayed going to him ..If you adopt this belief then you have to invent some suppositions like those I found in a quick trawl of the cd Rom.

*The resurrected ones will likely be recreated with whole, sound, healthy bodies, though not yet having human perfection. Because of the miracle of resurrection, they will evidently not thereafter need repair of any former disabilities by the miracle of healing. On the other hand, because of their unique experience of surviving Armageddon, miraculous repair is what many of the great crowd will need and will receive

While resurrected ones will be the same individuals they were before their death, they will not need to have the same bodies. As with those raised to heaven, God will give them a body just as it pleases him. No doubt their new bodies will be physically sound and reasonably similar to their original body so that they will be recognized by their loved ones.

My friend had a miscarriage. As a woman I sympathize with her, but would it be proper to encourage her to hope in a resurrection?

You certainly can do much good by giving her comfort and loving Christian help. But the Bible does not provide a basis to expect a resurrection of the embryo.

    What about Matt. 27:52,53?

They came out of the tombs and went into the city, those faithful men of old. You would think it would have been mentioned again by some bible writer. What do you think of that scripture?

    I forgot about that scripture.

Why wasn't it mentioned again by other writers?

Was it just fabricated? Who were those faithful men of old? Old as in Moses? David? Abraham?

Or just old as in they died a few years ago and are now coming back to life?

It would seem logical that they were not famous prophets that they received so little mention in the Bible.
