    so, lemme get this straight....

this convention was held at an assembly hall that is owned by the borg and therefore paid for by the contributions of the r&f as well as built by their volunteer labour......

and they are being asked to cough up $16K to use it for 2 days?? how much IS a case of toilet paper in sunny cali anyway?

    unbelievable!

When I worked in the finance section at our circuit assemblies in Maine, it was cheaper for us to rent the Cumberland County Civic Center than it was to pay the $3.75 per publisher per day that they charged at the time for the Natick Assembly Hall

When I was "Joe" elder we would make resolutions to send money to the society from the take at the C. Ass. I remember at one elders meeting that the DO asked why we hadn't made a resolution to send money to the Society. Magically there was a motion and $3,000 was earmarked for the WWWORK. I thought, you S.O.B.'s you'll get your money one way or the other won't you? I hated it. W.Once

Can you go to administration and ask for a breakdown of expenses since that that figure has been announced? They had to have figures to add to get to that number, and before you write a check for the FULL amount you say....could you get it???.........oompa

I could never understand why it cost 15k to 20k to use the hall for 2 days.

Most of these assembly halls have been paid off for decades and they are being used literally every week by congregations.

Romeoville assembly hall in Chicago cost approx. 5 mils it was paid off in 2-3 years in1991.

Where is all the money going that they're collecting every week?

I think anyone that is going to donate should print all the Zero Dollar Bills that they can, and stuff all the boxes with those. That way, no one will donate, and they will think they're flush with money. It will look like they are being stuffed with $20s and $50s (and $100s). The best time to do that is immediately after they announce their deficits (although first thing in the morning would also clog the boxes and prevent people from donating money with a real value).

I wonder where they can pxxx away $16,000 for a stupid a$$embly. I could understand a rock show costing that much because they have worldly people performing for a profit, and they need to make a profit to reward them for administering the show. An a$$embly, on the other hand, has all volunteers doing the administration and hence they save a raftload of money on that. Energy is not all that expensive. The buildings are paid for. Other utilities are also much lower than $16,000. With all the freebies, there is no way it could cost them much more than $2,000. Remember also that they pay no taxes on those a$$embly hells.

What does happen is that, since the Mother Organization owns the a$$embly hells, they charge a rent for the usage (that is always much higher than the free market would support). That rent is not for actual expenses. About 80% of all the money they claim to need goes straight into the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund. That is one reason why, no matter how big the deficit is, no one should waste their real money on closing it. If they can't run a competitive business and compete on the open market, then they need to go belly up.

The Norco Assembly Hall was built back in 1970 or 1971. I was living in the area at the time. That makes it over 35 years old. I wonder what makes it cost so much to use now?

BBoard, how many publishers do you have in your circut?

For the society owned facilities the expense is not just for the 2 days. They take the anual expenses and divide by the number of assemblies. I know at least some of these facilites have full-time caretakers on location. These are paid pioneers. So their wages might be coming out of this fund, as well as construction/maintenance costs and utilities for the year. If there are only 4 circuits sharing, and they're paying 2 salaries out of this, then you can see how this might get expensive.

But they don't have paid clergy.
