Sounds like you are going to have a Merry Christmas & be free from the chains of the Watchtower. If I were with you, I'd share an egg nog & cider.

What is the name of the book the Society quoted for 607? I'd like to get a copy of those pages for my family who swears the Society is right about one thing .... 607.

P.S. Was thinking I should write a D'A Letter and get it to them before my 7 days are up, stating all the reasons why I can no longer be considered a JW. (Not like we have considered ourselves JWs..We haven't been to a meeting in 3 years!!)

This is the cherry on top. By all means do not let them DF you. Your DA letter should also be shared with some others so they can't bury it. You know, they do not read DA letters to the cong.!

You may not know it now, but the things you said to them will probably metastisize in their brains and someday it will all fall into place, 'click'.

    Dear Skeeter,

The name of the book is entitled, Assyrian and Babylonian Chronicles by A.K. Grayson. I went to the library hoping they would have it but they didn't. However, they did locate it at a University and sent off for it. 2 weeks later I had it. I just bumped the thread where I posted it to the top of the forum. Initially the scans were so tiny you couldn't read it. But on the 2nd or so pages of the thread, I was able to supersize it! LOLO!!

Let me know if you need anything else!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

I must be tired. I'm look at the Insight book under "Nebuchadnezzar" on pp 480-481. I see a reference to A K. Grayson but don't see the date 607 B.C.

    Dear Bonnie..

No, it is I who am really tired!! It was a couple of years ago..the date effects 607 but was actually talking about the battle of Charchemish (spelling) which throws everything off by the 19-20 years that are between 605 and 624. So I am sorry for the confusion, but it still makes the point in A.K. Graysons book in the preface. Here is my comments from my original findings. I just bumped the thread to the top.

    O.K. Everyone,

Here are the scanned copies I promised I would post. Thanks to my WONDERFUL husband, he made it all possible, as he is a computer whiz! These copies show the out and out deception on the part of the organization. Once again, we find proof of them misquoting different scholars in order for the organization to appear to have credentials for proof of their date system. If I never checked their date out and never had any reason to doubt them, then I would have never have seen the deception. Hope someone will benefit from these as much as we have.

See scanned copy of Insight Book page 480, which reads :

In this his accession year he returned to Hattu, and "in the month Shebat [January-February, 624 B.C.E.] he took the vast booty of Hattu to Babylon." (AssyrianandBabylonianChronicles, by A. K. Grayson, 1975, p. 100)

Now look at the actual scanned page from this very book I checked out from the library. Page 100 Notice there is NO date!! Look closer at the Insight Book Scan. In brackets they insert the date 624 B.C.E. inside the quotation marks. Clearly anyone reading this would never question that the date 624 B.C.E. was actually the date given by this renouned scholar.

Then, lets look at scanned page 19 from this same book. Notice what date A.K. Grayson DOES give: 605 B.C.E. NOT 624 B.C.E.!!! Interesting that the Society has to alter the Battle of Carchemishs dates because they have changed the date of the destruction of Jerusalem.

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

L.L.....Good shot at them anyway. It might just make one of them go home and THINK but now you know the outcome for you is certain. I think sometimes it is less stressful in the end when you can just get it all off your chest and let them do their petty little thing. I am still a 25 year fader (wife in) so I still have to put up with a little nonsense in my life.

Since you put up the tree etc....Merry Christmas to you and your Family and may 2008 bring true and lasting peace to you...POZ

I believe that Christmas is the best time of year to dump that Ho of a religion because you can then concentrate on Christ and His love instead of trying to plaese the demon god of the Watchtower Society.

I DA'd (just as the Pharisees were trying to figure out if I was going apostate) the last week of November 2004.

That gave me almost a month of being Borg-free to celebrate Jesus before Christmas.

That is why this time of year is so peaceful to me.

    You did us proud!

Too bad they couldn't give you an answer to your question...I wonder if that bothered them or if they used the excuse that the "Demons" made them shake?

I had JW girlfriend that would swear she could "Feel" the demons at some of the houses we went to out in service...I thought she was nuts.....

The point of trying to get a copy of the letter?..I don't think we can do that in the USA. I tried to get a copy of my DA letter I sent and they refused saying it was their personal property now. They never disfellowshipped me either...
I wrote the letter in 1975 and never went back.(Except for funerals)
My JW MIL asked at her hall for them to find out if it was OK to associate with me as I and hubby went to her farm to help out quite a bit..they told her it was fine but not to talk about spiritual matters with me.They also asked her how I was...they were concerned about me....(DUH!..I wrote the letter almost 30 years ago.)..They had gotten a copy of my letter but they wouldn't give ME a copy..idiot that I was for not making a copy.I think because it incriminated someone in the hall and they were afraid of a lawsuit!!!!!!!

I also was under the understanding that if you no longer associate yourselves with or represent yourself to be a JW..there is no need to disfellowship you. They only do it to so-called protect their flock from "Bad associations". If you aren't there they can't associate with you..

You guys did a great job..I can't believe they didn't do their research before they came to visit you.It doesn't even sound like they tried to answer you. They must be raising a bunch of dummies these days..

    Snoozy....

LL, Outstanding indeed. Many great points already posted. Here's my contribution on JW procedures and loopholes. If I actually cared to do the utmost damage, and had the nerve to lie and play up the drama in return, here's how I'd proceed...

First off, you have at least seven days from the time you were notified, yesterday, to appeal. Also, the announcement of your disfellowshipping will not be for seven days or more until the next Service Meeting. Consequently, if their Service Meeting is on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, you have 6 more speaking days. Or if their Service Meeting is on Thursday, after Christmas, you have 8 days. You follow? Don't appeal. Don't DA. Let the announcing proceed on schedule. In the meantime, you have the opportunity to talk to as many as possible. Avoid the elders, and stay under the radar as you talk to as many sisters as you can, letting them know that the CO and the brothers are on top of the pedophile scandal, the Keep on the Watch! cancellation, and will be reading a special announcement during Local Announcements at the next Service Meeting clearing up the whole thing and that the Society is suing NBC and Silentlambs.org for slander, the Society hasn't spent $12.5 million to silence the victims, and that the cancellation of the Keep on the Watch! campaign is a fraud (show the gift I sent you, as well as assorted printouts from the NBC story, Silentlambs, etc.) and that the campaign exposing false religion is ON, as announced in the January KM. Share every last scandalous detail. Go to the Service Meeting next week for the announcement, when your audience is expecting this important information from the bOrg, sit in the back row, wave at the elder that goes up to announce your DF, afterward immediately burst into tears, knock over chairs as you run out crying, "What? Why Jehovah? Why have they done this TO THE CHILDREN ?!?!?"

Ah, yes, it would be a bother to pull off, but picturing it in your head is so sweet, ain't it?
