The old testament is a horrible thing, when I was younger reading through it I didn't quite understand what most of the things were talking about but now I'm hard-pressed not to get ill while reading it. If you say that to a JW they look at you like you're crazy, pardon me if I don't like spending my free time reading about rape, animal mutilation and mass genocide.

Carmel: Not sure what the reference to the detainees at Gitmo had to do with anything though....
The way I took it he was saying that even the INNOCENT Gitmo detainees are likely more dangerous now than they were when imprisoned because of the way they have lost liberties. If they weren't anti-American, they are now.
The young women whose families were butchered by the invading Israelites would have been a serious threat simply for that fact.
That's what I took him to mean, but I could be wrong.

AuldSoulDead right AuldSoul....That QFR I believe, explained that the captive pagan girl was "no longer a threat" to Isreal....I remeber telling my dad then "what a load of CRAP!" The reason they say that is because this passage in Leviticus makes ok unders certain circumstances, to "marry out of the Truth." As strict as the LAW was about "not taking foreign wifes for yourselves" it did allow it after all. You would think that taking a foreing wife when her family was a peacful neighbor would be safer than taking one when you have slaughtered all of her family and friends! Maybe I did not express it well, but my dad and I had already talked about this point, and he agreed with me. It would be laughable to think the US prisioners in Cuba are no longer a threat just because we have killed all their friends and family (if we had). thanks all.......oompa
