Bourgeoisie or Bourgeois Ass
In common usage the term has pejorative connotations suggesting either undeserved wealth, or lifestyles, tastes, and opinions that lack the sophistication of the rich or the authenticity of the intellectual or the poor. It is rare for people in the English speaking world to self-identify as members of the bourgeoisie, although many self-identify as middle class. On the other hand some would self-identify as proletarians. In reality many members of this class are transitory like Marx had originally argued. In the United States, where social class affiliation lacks some of the structure and rules of many other nations, Bourgeoisie is sometimes used to refer to those seen as being upper class .

A sentence from the end of A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens. The character who is speaking has nobly chosen to die in place of another man.

While I'm not as adament as some others on here, I'm not seeing a problem here. They're not building more public housing, If I were governor of a city that part of the population was too stupid to get on free buses which would lead to free shelters knowing a catastrophic hurricane was coming their way I would want to try to upgrade my population too. I would probably try to get rid of some of the lures to bring folks like that back to my city.

Police Attack Protesters With Mace
What utter Bull Shit!
I watched the news last night, and to say the police attacked the protesters is non-sense. The court house was full, no one could get in anymore, so they locked the gates. These "peaceful protesters" decided to force their way in by knocking down the gates and rushing the police!
Sorry, I don't feel any pity for them. If that is how they want to act, then there are concequences for those action.

mkr....might want to check into the percentage of your taxes that go into social programs compared to the war, corporate subsidies and other upper echelon hanky panky. The poor and the races have always been a convenient scapegoat. mrs flipper

Obviously America - Babylon the Great, has problems. It's wonderful to see its citizens (like mkr) so understanding. Obviously a merciful and contrite bunch.

There are no easy answers.
When the Constitution was drafted, the few Blacks on these shores were mostly in chains. The guarantees of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as set out by the Founding Fathers were not for those ones.
It was only after a bitter, divisive war that the 13th and 14th Amendments were tacked onto the Constitution, thereby grudgingly admitting that these freedoms should be extended to Blacks also. However, some Whites had other ideas, and fought tooth and nail to deprive Blacks of their constitutional rights. We know the sad stories of the KKK, Jim Crow, and the subsequent Civil Rights struggle of the 60's.
Some of us - myself included - lived through the era of boycotts, sit-ins, and demonstrations. I was tear gassed on Alabama Highway 41 in Wilcox County for peacefully protesting the deplorable conditions of the county's high school. To say that is was not substandard is to say that George Walker Bush did not lie about WMD in Irag. Yet, many graduates of that substandard school went on to become productive citizens, some even starting their own businesses.
Still, I know of many who failed to take advantage of the opportunities made available by the Civil Rights Act and Great Society programs. Why? I don't know. As I said in my opening statement, there are no easy answers..
