By taking both terms away, it allows the default value of "disfellowshipped" to apply to all. Keeps the "why did they leave?" questions from coming up.
But that is a risk because sister popular never get in trouble get DFd everyone might think she DAd she is to righteous and old to do something so vile.
Same goes for whole families leaving.
