This pattern still exists. The Canadians solid and courageous to a fault are always the first in and are always set up as the soft target, to test the firing power of the enemy, or test military strategies, or prepare the battlefield for the 'real' forces.
Where is this happening?

You missed the point of my post, please re-read it. I presume you are Canadian. Read your own military history. More bravery in battle could not be found than the CAD divisions in WWI, WWII, Korea and in UN deployment in Bosnia, Korea, Lebanon, Somalia etc. There has very frequently been a higher than normal casulty rate for active CAD troops. Why? Not a lack of expertise, but due to behind the scenes military decisions that very often seem to put the CAD troops in situations of danger not deemed acceptable to their allies.
A book which may help you understand how the CAD have tradionally been used and abused by their allies was written by Chris Madsen and is entitled, 'Another Kind of Justice; Canadian Military Law From Confederation to Somalia.' A number of films have been also made by Canadian directors illustrating the whole issue of how the Canadian Military has in moments of battle crisis, deliberately been left to fend for itself. Yes, soft targets are made of them, it often seems that British and American lives are deemed the more important.
