An even dirtier word is "chemotherapy". Chemo is notorious for producing poor results. The patient will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and end up incapacitated for long periods of time while on it. And often the drugs only delay death. Sometimes they even hasten death from a cancer that the patient would have otherwise fought off with their own immune system, but that gets knocked out. People have been known to die from toxicity of the drugs themselves.

The worst part of this is that cancer survival today is not improved from the 1950s. They like to talk about 5 year survival rates. Those numbers improve, and so they hype up the treatment as success. What they don't tell you is that most of this is that they are diagnosing cancers now that would have not been diagnosed for another 4 years or so back then. Of course, the clock is still running during that time now, but wasn't back then (because it would not have yet been diagnosed). All the while, new chemicals are put into the environment every day that increase the risk of cancer.

Then, we have the FDA. They have a system in place that stops effective herbal medicines and dietary supplements from being marketed as cancer treatments. Take alpha lipoic acid, for instance. That is a powerful antioxidant that can keep cancer from forming in the first place. It also improves liver function and immune system health, both of which improve the chances of spontaneous cure of cancer. They are not allowed to use it for that purpose, nor are they allowed to make that claim on the bottle. The side effects include improved management of blood sugar, possible increase in energy, and better use of other antioxidants. Yet, no company is going to test this for possible cancer cure effects, since that would render the substance a "drug" and is very expensive, and it cannot be patented.

With the wretched results that regular medicine is getting these days, I think it's time to explore the alternates. True, there will be some scams (which will be put out of business by the most trusted regulatory system of all time: bad mouthing of bad results). But, even snake oil is not going to render your immune system ineffective, poison the other organs of your body, or make the patient sicker. And, the one scientist that can reasonably demonstrate that substance X, found in certain foods or herbs, cures cancer is going to have all the admiration and adoration that the leaders of the Watchtower Society are craving. And it will be deserved.
