My uncle was baptised 50 years ago.

He was made an Elder a few years later.

Started a new congregation with the help of another Elder.

Has been married for over 50 years.

Only missed a meeting due to being in the hospital a few days.

Attends all out of town conventions no matter where it's held.

    Reads only Watchtower material.

Doesn't watch any television other than the news.

Pioneers all year long since retired.

Only visits Witness friends and congregation members.

Still gives Public Talks,is Watchtower Conductor and Book Study conductor.

Didn't attend his father's funeral because it was held in a Catholic Church.

Wow...what a "Fine" outstanding example your Uncle was for not attending his own father's funeral--- NOT!!!

Amazing, for all of the time your Uncle spent reading WT's and Awake's, I guess he never bothered to read the 10 commandments.....especially the one that states, "Honour they father and mother," I would say that one flew right out the window with the funeral. What a kick in the teeth for your family! Not attending funerals and weddings due to it not being a JW's is disgraceful and outright disgusting. What I come across such reasoning/twisted logic I am forced to ask myself, "Is this how Jesus would act?" The answer should hit you in the heart.

The most zealous witness I knew was one similar to your uncle. He was one of the annointed, and apparently he claimed it since his own uncle was annointed but "fell away" and became apostate, and I guess somehow it fell upon him. Now, this brother truly was genuine, and I feel if anyone was of the annointed it would probably be him. He was very down to earth, kind, etc. He was the nicest guy and would do anything for anyone. Of course he worked some menial job that just barely put food on the table for his wife and 6 children, but always managed. Unfortunately, he was more attentive to the flock above his own family, and his wife eventually left him for another worldly man that she met while taking computer courses. *GASP, a computer course!* The kids were split down the middle as to "in the truth" and "Worldy". His house always looked like crap, as he never had time to do anything like cut the grass or clean up. He always drove a station wagon, completely beat up with no a/c. I kinda felt bad for him when his wife left, but on the other hand she wouldn't have done that if he was man enough to take care of his family first.

    Regards,

    Wing Commander

My brother in law. He's an ass! He wouldn't come to our wedding because we had been living in sin prior and I'm sure because I'm not a witness. He also would not come to my inlaws anniversary get together a couple years ago where we did a makeover on their bedroom because my hubby and I were going to be there. Way to bring families together....

An old couple who live in our seniors building, they are in their eighties and have no children. He has been an elder since the arrangement came in, in the early seventies. They never miss a meeting or service arrangement. They are real diehard JW's. He was our PO when I left 28 years ago. Still think they will survive until the big A.

The above description of the Uncle baptized 50 yrs ago could have been written by me about an identical uncle. I have had the opportunity to know several super zealous JWs in my life. Male or Female, they fall into two catagories.

A They are basically good people who have found something to throw themselves into that satisfies their sense of purpose. They have bought the whole program.

    B. They are the kind of people who have a huge ego and sense of self righteousness that is fulfilled by their zeal. They can be very ugly, cold, Nazi like in their drive. They get off on the position they hold or, in the case of females, the respect and reverence they get from being a long suffering pioneer with an unbelieving mate. (We've all known one of those, right?). Many of them are ne're do wells that have never amounted to a hill of beans in other aspects of life. Being a model JW gives them the juice they need for their egos.
