Excellent post Mr.Flipper, very well said.Sadly,I too have noticed such comments at times (from a minority) and I would hope that they are made out of frustration toward the org or those who have hurt them and thus take a "cheap shot" to make their point.I know one brother who made over a $100,000 a year with his cleaning business. Many people are willing to take a much lower paying job if it sounds prestigious since pride can be a tough pill to swallow and some people tend to look down on others in "general labor".One would hope that after breaking free from an organization that seeks to determine another's worth based on superficial criteria that we will never again fall into such a habit.

Flipper..Your not a stupid person and you`ve done well for yourself..Good for you!.....However..Not all Janitors are intelligent people.....Thats not a reflection on you..It`s just a fact.....I hope your business continues to grow..And..You continue to do well!..................Clint Eastwood...OUTLAW

I think what people are saying is that when elders who are janitors take on the role of marriage counseler or judge, its harmfull to the person being counseled. The people who are priests, pastors or counselers have had training to do that. Elders normally haven't that training.

That is how I have always taken the 'janitor' reference.

Hey man good for you! I hope I've not offended you. I know several people who have really financially done well by creating their own business be it janitorial or cleaning or window washing. One just moved to Puerto Vallerta where there is a JW enclave....everything paid for AND he gets social security by putting his successful business in his (second) JW wife's name. That being said, the majority of JWs never start their own business but just go to work FOR others at minimum wage and no benefits. ....perhaps they believe they are just the slave's slave class (Nethinim....the Isrealite Temple slaves...which is what the WT believes the "great crowd" are illustrated by). They have no "love for themselves" because they are not "worthy" of being "in charge". You must be a sheep. I cleaned homes for a while and kind of enjoyed it but the big money went to the brother I worked FOR. He was the smart one.

    Hi Mr Flipper,

Snap! i have noticed what you say about window cleaners here, there is very occasionally a certain sniffliness.

Not all window cleaners are poor and uneducated though a lot are saldy and really struggle.

For my part i still clean windows, and it is hard work . Having said that i graduated with an LL.B (Hons )- Law degree in the UK - 11 y ago hence llbh. of which i am very proud. When you say you have that as window cleaner, you get a reaction.

One of my neighbours said to me a while ago that i was doing very well living in an area like this,!! I live in good area and own my house outright, i own 2 others outright to plus another with a mortgage, so i get by. BTW i did not say this to the neighbour, i let it pass..

I may yet go into law as paralegal

Peace to you Mr and Mrs Flipper

Hey flippy, I had a janitorial franchise, but I don't give a shit how people here feel about it. It was GOOD money while it lasted............REAL GOOD.

    More power to you.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GREEN, AND NOTHING ELSE.

    Hi Mr Flipper

It seems you are the American version of me..........Libran, second marriage, ex JW and run a cleaning business.

Running a cleaning business is hard.......I've done it for 15 years now and have come across every related problem from sick and shite to customers going bust on you owing you lots of pennies!!!! I realised a long way back that I could go to university and study for a qualification to gain a career in just about any other field and end up not earning as much money as I can now......I already have a business management Btec National Diploma (from college) and various O'levels (from school) but fell into cleaning whilst a JW and when my son was young and I could fit my hours around his needs.

Today I have 45 people work in our company, my second husband was able to give up his very demanding £45k plus mercedes a year job and run the business with me, which meant he gets to see more of his kids and generally gets more time off when he wants. I also have a beauty salon but am basically a silent partner in that business. Working for yourself is very rewarding but also very difficult.......I remember once receiving criticism from a friend (who is employed) about my work style........ I just said hey I'll give you £10k, you give up your job and set yourself up in business and in a years time have earnt yourself a wage and my £10k back and then you can be my critic.........funnily enough he didnt take me up on the offer

Ignore the critics is my best advice..........being a cleaner doesnt stop you having an IQ of 140, it doesnt stop you earning lots of money, it means you can have a great house, nice car and great holidays and being your own boss gives you freedom to some extent to pick and choose when and where you work.......I wouldnt go back

    Fi
