How do JW's react when learning that Jehovah is not part of Christianity?

Sorry to spoil it. :) The Peshitta, is the original NT, not the Greek bible. The Peshitta does contain Gods name in the form of "Mar-Jah" (Lord Jah) and Jesus is referted to be titled Jah (in Acts) and true, when the OT is citated, 'Jah' is used and sometimes, the non-OT-text just uses that name. However, the WTS never used the peshitta as their source. They used the 'best-guess' method (except for Matthew) more about Aramaic, the original language of Jesus http://www.aramaicpeshitta.com

Most Christians simply do not understand what JWs are talking about 2/3 of the time, they don't know how to discuss anything with a JW, and they quite frankly don't know that it is that big of an "issue".

It's like someone telling you that they address God as Yahweh. Giving you the hoopla about how that is His REAL and proper name. Duh...ok. No argument. That's a way to address God. yep. Gotcha!

They don't "get" that it is considered wrong that other people call Him Father, Lord, or God. Yahweh, that's what you call him. Lovely. I call Him that too, sometimes. We don't see that as meaning there is no other way to address God.

Since Christians aren't usually sitting in church hearing sermons about why everyone else is wrong, but are instead hearing the Gospel, learning about salvation and why people need it, we don't understand it when someone's focus is on how you address God. We figure Jehovah is a really smart guy, HE knows who we are talking to! He's powerful too. He does not let Satan take away prayers intended for Him.

That's why I think you don't hear Christians at the door saying much. They don't know what JWs believe. They figure they're another denomination with a lot of legalistic rules. They don't know they think Jesus is Michael, Demons are in churches waiting to pounce, you can't give or receive blood, etc.... and if you join up, you can never leave in peace.

JWs don't exactly mention all of that the first time they knock on your door.

Educate the Christians in your area. If you teach them how to ask thought-provoking questions, they will do it! They just don't know what to say or how to say it. Former JWs are the best ones to show them!

DT: the JW's are guilty of an unforgivable fraud

    AMEN DT!!!!

    Robert7:

So the question is, if there was enough apostacy for someone to ONLY take out the name Jehovah and replace it with God/Lord, how can the Society assume that nothing else was changed? Could this possibly invalidate the scriptures entirely?

Robert, now don't you go asking these silly little questions! We were taught the Bible is ACCURATE and God would protect and preserve his word right? I could site dozens of WT as to how incredibly accurate it is......But then it's like.....Wait a minute......the name Jehovah MUST have been there and been removed by so-called Christians (apostates).....so we will "restore" it....wherever we want to.

It is laughable to believe that EVERY copy of EVERY ancient Bible could have the Divine name magically deleted. And yes....those wily postates would have changed many things....not just one. We can either believe the Bible was accurately preserved and the Jewish God disappears during Christianity......which is what is recorded......or we can believe it has been very corrupted and not divinely protected. My letter from WT said that Satan had "corrupted" it, and they had done their best to "fix" it! I said Bull$hit! And have pretty much lost all faith in not only my religion, but in the Bible itself....................................freedom has a price..............oompa

    Hi,
Christians who are born again are not fussed about the name of The Father be it ???? ,YHWH, YHVH, JHVH, IHVH, Jehovah, LORD or any other of the derivatives.

Quite often the simply call Him "Father".

    John 1:12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

    Received who?

    John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

So who is Jesus and what makes Him so special? Maybe you should consider these names and how both The Father and Son have the same names in the bible.

Name/Applied to the Father/Applied to Jesus

    Alpha and Omega/Revelation 1:8/Revelation 22:13
    Lord of Lords/Deuteronomy 10:17/Revelation 17:14
    First and Last /Isaiah 44:6/Revelation 1:17-18, 22:13
    King/Isaiah 43:15/Revelation 17:14
    Owner/Jeremiah 3:14/Jude 4
    Husband/Hosea 2:16/Revelation 21:9
    Savior/Isaiah 43:11/Luke 2:11
    Judge/Genesis 18:25/2 Timothy 4:8

Maybe then John 10:30 will make some sense?

    All the best,
    Stephen

But not a single Jehovah is found in any ancient Greek manuscript IN THE WORLD!!! But don't let that stop WT from sticking in there 237 without ANY manuscript support.

This is actually admitted in "The Divine Name" brochure

I'll look it up ASAP, but it may be a little while as I don't know where my wife put the literature, and I don't want her to get suspicious........OR HOPEFUL.

From what I remember, it is like a passing statement that one might easily miss.

This is from the heading "Gods Name and the New Testament":

With the Christian Greek Scriptures, the "New Testament," the situation is different. Manuscripts of the book of Revelation (the last book of the Bible) have God's name in its abbreviated form, "Jah," (in the word "Hallelujah"). But apart from that, no ancient Greek manuscript that we possess today of the books from Matthew to Revelation contains God's name in full. Does that mean that the name should not be there? That would be surprising in view of the fact that Jesus' followers recognized the importance of God's name, and Jesus taught us to pray for God's name to be sanctified. So what happened?

Why the crap didn't Christendom educate me a good one while out trying to convert them?.............Still pissed......................................oompa

    Oompa!

You would not have listened to them .....you were brainwashed like the rest of us.

When they tried to talk to us, we did not listen, it went in one ear and came out the other because we had the "truth"

and nothing good could come out from the "harlot".
