    Stilla,

For a minute I thought that maybe how you knew me - our mutual friend is a fan off Jazz - or was - had a good collection. I also had some Hi-fi for sale as I had "upgradeitis" - I had KEF Calinda speakers at the time -huge things. Switched to B&W now

I am afraid that I still have upgradeitis.

I build my own speakers, and if you are looking for a pair of stunning monitors, try the design by Troel Gravasen : http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/W15.htm The crossovers are pretty chunky and have to be housed outside the cabinets, which is actually a good thing for future tweaks. I built mine from 3/4 mdf covered in 1/2" solid oak. The sound is absolutely stunning. They cost under $1000 for parts, but I would confidently place them next to $6,000 speakers knowing they would outperform them.

Yes, I think our friend particularly liked John Barry's music and has this in common with Terry on the Board. I built him a pair of LS3 5A's at one stage.

    Cheers - HS

Stilla....I found your Verdi-Aida which you can have for free if you just arrange for the shipping. Its on Angel Stereo SCL-3716 Birgit Nilsson/Franco Corelli, Grace Bumbry and Mario Sereni. Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Dell' opera Di roma

The 3 LP's look in good shape, but no booklet with it.

ONE MORE QUESTION FOR YOU EXPERTS:

I have found The complete Music of WEBERN recorded Under the Direction of Robert Craft. CK4L-232 NEVER OPENED. I can only find 2 or 3 on the internet in fair condition. Is this a big collectors Item?

    Thanks for all your help.

    r.

Hello again, Restrangled. The music of Anton Webern is definitely an acquired taste. Drop the needle anywhere at random, and you'll grasp the truth of that very quickly. Is this a collector's item? To some, it would be. Although most people don't care for the serialist composers like Webern, Schoenberg, Stockhausen, to name a few, there are others who feel that this is the best music. These are the people that you need to reach, and they are, generally speaking, intelligent and affluent and don't mind paying for something if they want it. I think you've got something that will go for a higher than average price. Maybe a lot higher. The site that Hillary mentioned might be the way to go. Even good ol' Ebay would probably reach the buyer you're looking for.

    David

Edited to add: I would be interested, but I've got all the Webern I need.

    Robert Craft

Igor Stravinsky said of Robert Craft's interpretation of his Rite of Spring that it was the closest he'd seen to any conductor capturing his intent. I'm so very happy by chance my first recording of the Rite was conducted by Robert Craft.

On the other hand, Igor Stravinsky said of Beethoven's Grosse Fugue that it was probably the greatest piece of music ever composed. In this current time frame, I agree with him!
