Examine the following statements and tell me if you think the WTS is irresponsible in its furtherance of religious hatred which is an evil plaguing the world today.

1 Article 1. Of The UN Declaration Of Human Rights

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

2.Jesus Son Of God says….

43 “YOU heard that it was said, ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to YOU: Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU;

3.WT Dec 1, 2001 page 19, parag 4 says…..

The Bible explains that ‘the fear of Jehovah means the hating of bad.’ (Proverbs 8: 13) A Bible lexicon describes this hatred as ‘an emotional attitude toward persons and things which are opposed, detested, despised and with which one wishes to have no contact or relationship,’ So godly fear includes an inner aversion or disgust toward all that is bad in Jehovah’s eyes.

The Question for this paragraph is ‘What hatred should Christians cultivate?’

So the UN Charter preserves the dignity of all people, Jesus showed that Christians would love even their enemies…the WTS encourages religious hatred. The hatred is to be ‘cultivated’. Truly disgusting and in the light of today’s manipulation of some to carry out acts of hatred on pseudo-religious grounds ….highly irresponsible.

Yes, interesting that the bible says Jehovah hates what is bad but somehow, from that WTS, this becomes who is bad (and we all know they define 'who' as anyone that disagrees with them)

It's quite clear really - Jesus preached a gospel based on love but they teach something completely different.

You neglected to include the footnote, ISP, which says :

"Jehovah himself feels this disgust. For example, Ephesians 4:29 describes bad language as 'rotten saying.' The Greek word used for 'rotten' literally refers to putrefying fruit, fish, or meat. Such a term vividly portrays the repulsion that we should feel toward abusive or obscene speech. Likewise, idols are often described in the Scriptures as 'dungy.' (Deuteronomy 29:17; Ezekiel 6:9) Our natural aversion to dung, or excrement, helps us to understand God's feeling of disgust for any form of idolatry."

So while it is true that the quotation from the lexicon described the Hebrew word for "hatred" as being "an emotional attitude towards persons and things", which is similar to the English meaning, the emphasis in the article is not on hating people but on hating "what is bad in Jehovah's eyes", namely idolatry, jealousy, immorality, greed, pride.

You do yourself no justice to take a line out of an article and misrepresent what is being said.

This shows another example of the predominate message of the OT versus the NT. OT- hatred, a jeolous God, destruction of thousands. NT- love and mercy. Notice that when the WT quotes both the OT and the NT, they give more weight to the OT. I would bet that if someone did an actual count, they would find far more scriptures quoted from the OT by the WT than quotes from Jesus. Jesus has become a minor player in their religion. The jealous God, Jehovah of the OT, has center stage.

You should read the December 15, 2001 Watchtower. It's all about Jesus. Feature articles. Study articles. Jesus is alive and well within the covers of the Watchtower.

There is no difference between the God of the OT and the God of the NT. People who say that are obviously not very familiar with either "Testament." Jesus quoted from the OT exclusively, since that was the only one in existence when he was on earth. If it was so much a message of a hateful God, why did the loving Carpenter from Nazareth appeal to it so much?

It's not suprising that you try to bring to our attention that Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus to be alive and well. After all, the witnesses judged me and threw me in the gutter and what Jesus taught was love.

Accuracy, a tree is judged by its fruit. Many here can testify that the fruits of the Watchtower are hatred, judgementalism, jealousy, self-righteousness, etc. It's time to lay the axe to the roots of such a pestiferous tree, IMO!

I love the condescention of a JW. You state that I am "obviously not familiar with either." Please do a search on my commentary of the book of Joshua. The thread is entitled, "Our Suday School Lesson" and Sunday is misspelled as shown. Go to the search at the top of this page, read what I have written and give your comments, either here or at the end of that thread. I know, I know, you are too busy for that.

By the way, the "loving Carpenter" did not "appeal to it so much". Most of the quotes in the NT were his own parables, stories and lessons with little reference to the OT. Most of the quotes in the NT re: Jesus have to do with narratives of the four gospels writers attempting to show that Jesus fullfiled OT prophecies.

In the future, address issues without your lofty opinion of yourself being expressed by putting down other people. Your manner of expression is one of pride and is Unchristian.

Didn't Jesus toss in a note to "hate ones family"? I hate to be arguing for the side of such a wicked and adulterous organization, but they are bible based, so it's no wonder they are confused. Still, most bible based religions are deciding to focus on the messeges of love in the bible, and ignore the hate. And, if one is going to use the bible as their moral guide, at least that way (focusing on positive messeges) it isn't so dangerous.

So, who is making the judgment now? I don't have to read what you wrote, I have read the Bible, all of it, many times. And I repeat that the God of the NT is the same as the God of the OT. Jesus called Him "Father," not hateful Despot. Much of what Jesus taught is definitely grounded in the OT. Are you suggesting that when Jesus quotes or alludes to the OT that it is just stuff put in his mouth by the Gospel writers?

What did Jesus say of the OT? "Your word is truth." Look it up.
