Recently I asked the question about lawsuits that the Society brought against certain websites. I got a lot of good information. It seems, of course that the Watchtower Society, in typical fashion, will by any means suppress an opposing view. I would think “the truth” would withstand any challenge, but apparently not. No level playing field here. If any of you peons dare cross us, will sue the s**t out of you.
As in most of the cases, had they actually gone to court, the defendants would likely have won, first amendment and all. But the power of big corporate dollars to control the flow of information and to squelch any descent is alive and well in the bowels of Brooklyn Bethel.
Basically, who could afford to defend themselves from the onslaught of the Watchtower pocketbook?
I am ranting off subject here. How did they know about these sites? They obviously know about many other sites so it begs the question, do they monitor apostate sites? It looks like they do.
I have been to many Q&A’s, discussion boards, ex JW support sites and there seems to be one or more persons who will quickly answer or comment with a very well thought out and worded reply or post. Is there evidence that the Society, while chastising its membership to stay away from these sites is monitoring them and waiting to unleash the next series of lawsuits?
Two days after I started my blog www.isnrblog.com, I got an email from this “friendly” but inquisitive Witness, who asked a lot of questions and had some comments to my posts that seemed too canned. It was an awful lot like “Bethel Speak”. I asked him outright if he was connected to the organization, other than being your run of the mill JW. He made some benign reply and he never returned.
I don’t give a s**t except for the fact that this could easily turn into an embarrassing incident for the Watchtower Society and I would not want to miss being part of it.
Anyone with a thought?

Does the Watchtower Society spy and keep tabs on "apostate" websites?

I think they do. Powerful companies have fingers and eyes in everything that is a threat to them. But I am sure they told the poor Bethelites some rambling lie about why they want them to look at apostate sites.

Good post and I like your blog. I have linked to it here http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/
All these websites and blogs can be a real pain to the WTS. If they monitor them, I say let's make more. It doesn't take long to set up a blog. Even if you only make a post or two it's a little thorn in the side of the WTS. They never know when you might come out with something really embarrassing to them. It's even better if you have a few links to anti-Witness sites or post some of the better videos from Youtube.
If the WTS decides to challenge websites. I think we can fight it by publicising it when it happens. I think they may have already decided that it isn't worth the extra negative publicity.

Sure, to get some new light.

'Theocratic Warfare' would guarantee that trusted senior dubs are asked to monitor websites and blogs.
I've read a couple of people have been 'outed' here on JWD over the last year or two but it seems they didn't go to too much trouble to keep their identities as secret as they could. -

Does a bear poop in the woods? I'm sure they keep tabs. Probably mostly to ensure no one is "Violating" copy rights.

That's what I'm talking about! I would also wonder if there isn't a little spyware on the Watchtower CD.

Thanks. I will also link to your site. Very nice work! Lots of good stuff.
I agree. I am not going to be shut up because someone disagrees with me. I understand the copyright laws and respect everyones rights. But if your membership distributes a magazine to the public, the law allows you to repreduce it, if you acknowledge the source. You can also critique it.
