Dallas ApostaCrawfest 2008

  Before I start, please don't buy your airline tickets yet! I haven't nailed down all of the technical details but I am targeting Saturday May 3rd, 2008.

  The main thing I need to sort out is the Location. Last year the party went great using the public facilities at my apartment complex. The only problem is that the apartment complex has sense re-wrote the rules and contract so that no one can use the clubhouse for parties before 6:00 PM. We could hold the thing outside by the pool area (where most everyone spent their time), however no one would be allowed inside. (can you hold your "beer" for a few hours?)

  As a result I am looking for an alternative location that will have a nice out-door area and an in-door area. I may also look for a restaurant that will host the crawfest event. I'm open to other ideas that anyone might bring up.

  Until I nail down the details, go ahead an put a pencil (not ink!) mark on May 3rd!

  Do you guys really know how to boil crawfish over in Dallas? Is Bigdreaux going to be there to supervise and make sure you get it right?

  Not to worry... I grew up in SE Texas by the swamps with Louisiana right next door. I can boil the mudbugs as good as any boudreaux wished he could.

  Last year Valis was kind enough to take the scooper in hand and do the honors... with excellent results.

  Then let's do it after 6pm! May 3rd is the date for the Scarborough Fair event, so many will be there during the day--we could head to your place for dinner/drinks in the evening!

  At DAC 2007, I was all for trying the bugs ... but when I saw loads of the poor squirming creatures being dumped into the pot for a boiling demise, I couldn't touch a bite.

  I'm bringing Mastodon and Mrs, Wanderlustguy and Coolhandluke with me that weekend too.

  If we could just do it after 6pm and Elsewhere you are amenable to us having it then at your place then I'd definitely be up for that. Its not the same in a restaurant because you just can't mingle and talk to everyone as easily.
