    Any thoughts?

It would be easy to do, but if found out could be very embarrasing!!

Has anyone looked into this? I have a friend who is a super geek and I was going to have him look at it, but why reinvent the wheel if it's already been done.

it crossed my mind once then i dismissed it, however i could see them providing individual serial keys to 'register' your watchtower library with feedback software built in saying 'leaving this option allows us to improve watchtower lib by monitoring the software - it'd also let them see who's copying and giving the wbt lib to apostates like us lol.

In my case I hope they do. I have plenty I'd like them to see.

I do not trust the Watchtower Society to produce clean anything. I wouldn't be surprised to find spyware on the Watchtower Society's material. I wouldn't even be surprised if they put a virus on the CD so that when you attempt to use an unauthorized web site, it will destroy it and ruin your computer. Then the only web site that you could access is their own (I would never even trust their web site to run any add-ons).

In fact, I wouldn't trust the Watchtower Society to not have a whole botnet. That is not something I want on my computer--bad enough to have regular spyware or a regular virus. The best way to handle it is to make sure you have a good antivirus/anti-spyware program and run it immediately after using their CDs so you won't have to worry as much about those problems.

If there is, that could be the end of the line for the WT.

People like us would not let this one go.

If it turns out to be true, it would be like winning the lottery for me personally. It would be the homerun hit with the bases loaded.

So let's hope someone finds it!

I considered this after installing the 2007 CD a week ago because after installing it, my firewall decided to alert me to a new program requesting internet access.

It may have been unconnected, but I blocked it anyway.

I'll have to look at the syslog to see what it was - I think it was a Windows system file but one that has not asked for access before.

It is likely innocent as I have just had to reinstall Windows from scratch due to a rootkit virus that I couldn't shift !!

But the point is that like others here, it crossed my mind as something that they could do.

Doubt it. It wouldn't be worth their trouble.

And they probably don't have the know-how. The software itself is pretty... (no swearing allowed).

I also doubt they would have spyware. What would they be looking for? A lot of JW's don't even have the internet which would make the spyware usueless.

I installed the new 2007 yesterday, it took a much longer time to install.

They have reverted to the original layout, I have not yet had any strange happenings.
