.....is it announced to everyone at the main meeting, or do they just not say anything? Does the Elder tell everyone WHY the JW is DF?
Thanks....I was just curious.

During the Service Meeting, the announcement is read: "So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." There no longer is a difference between this announcement than if one disassociates.
JK
The announcement is made after the general announcements during the Service Meeting (normally Thursday night, but it could be another week night depending upon the congregation's meeting schdule). The reason for disfellowshipping is not given in a formal announcement (for risk of law suit). However, just like this board, there is enough gossip and rumors that spread for everyone to get the general idea.
Thanks, JK!
Okay, thank you too sweetface! I always wondere how they did it.
Many decades ago it was announced that "So-and-so has been DFed for ___________" And they would say porneia, smoking, etc.
Then it became "for conduct unbecoming a Christian".
I'm guessing a few more lawsuits later it became "has been DFed".
And even more lawsuits under the bridge to now where at the MOST it is announced "So-and-so is no longer one of JWs" and in the case of neutrality & blood issues no announcement is made at all.
Just a quick walk down memory lane. All part of our rich spiritual heritage.

Although it's never announced WHY someone was DF, you can usually find out from any gossip queen why they were DF.
In my area they used to do local needs parts about whatever the person was DF'd for the same night they made the announcement. Anyone else have this in their congregations or was it just a local gem?

No they used to do that in England, not sure if they still do. It could usually be worked out what they did from the talk, how sad on that on all levels. Regard David

I agree, how incredibly sad. Rachel
