Pride and Joy, that's my fave. Me and hubby think it's romantic. Hey, Romance means different things to different people. I never was the wine and roses kinda girl. Well, wine yeah. Come to think about it, I love roses. Nevermind......

DInah (of the gets roses often but had to lay off the wine class)

    cl,

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but I am a Steve Winwood fan too, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is my favorite Traffic album (John Barleycorn Must Die a close second). My favorite early work of his though would be Blind Faith (with Eric Clapton).

DINAH- Pride and Joy - that is a romantic song. Sounds like your hubby treats you well- good !

JK- Yeah, that was a good album by Traffic . I heard it for the first time last summer. My wife had an old cassette of it hidden in the attic ! LOL!

JAGUAR BASS- Cold Shot ! Great song ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I love Stevie, I dislike the SRV imitators that think he's the only blues player that mattered in the last 60 years. Have any of these guys ever heard a Freddy King album??? Talk about a head cutter, now THAT GUY was BAD ASS!!!! And if it wasn't for him and Albert King, SRV, wouldn't have been able to do his thang...

Also listen to Jimmie Vaughan, that guy has ice in his veins he's so cool. Totally different style than SRV, but if you listen to early T-Birds stuff, you'll hear who Stevie copied his neck pickup tone from, the song would be "Full Time Lover", and Jimmie had that tone, and then little brother made a career off that same tone.

    Favorite SRV song:

The Sky is Crying (written by Elmore James)

The emotion he gets on this song, is nothing short of amazing. I almost hate to play SRV songs at my gigs, because I never want to be thought of as an imitator, I respect the man so much I prefer to just listen to his songs, but I will do "The Sky is Crying" occasionally, just because I know people love Stevie, and he was THE REASON I started listening to blues and discovering all the cool players that I listen to now.

My ex used to sing "Pride and Joy" to me. You can't be a Texan and not love Stevie.

BLUESBREAKER 59- Stevie sure was great ! Albert King was great too ! I have some of his stuff. I've heard some of the Fabulous Thunderbirds stuff over the years , but I'll have to listen to the song you mentioned to see the comparison. Thanks.

XENA- Pride and Joy, great song !

OUTLAW- Nice ! Getting to see Page and Plant - what a great show ! I think they used John Bonham's son again on their recent show in England as well ! I hope they record some new material again and put Bonzo's son on drums and permanently reform. Would be great to see new Page and Plant collaborations again ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Any song, any album. I actually like him just as much as Cash, just in a different way. Stevie spoke with the guitar just as hard as Cash did with his voice.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard he died, was the first "star" I actually cried over the death of. Like Hendrix, you can't even inagine what they would have been with more time.

WANDERLUSTGUY- I agree. Stevie and Jimi would have put out mountainous volumes of great music out over the years had they lived . And they would have been bigger legends than they are already
