Elders, for example, through JCs are privied to info about the JW involvement with the UN, 607 bce, etc, etc...

people who actually do study a lot, you think they figured it out???

That is exactly how it all fell apart for us. My hubby was the WT overseer and a diligent Bible student. He thoroughly studied in preparation for the WT study and would often share with me things he said just didn't fit. "the Bible isn't saying that" he would tell me. Sometimes he said "I just cannot get up there and teach this". But he would, and gloss over the things he didn't agree with.

I studied a lot too, but was so indoctrinated that it took him showing me things for several years before it really started to erode my faith.

I think that even if a tiny bit of doubt crept into their minds they would dismiss it right away b/c you are taught not to doubt Jeh's organization. For fear of disfellowshiping or being called an apostate I do believe most just don't allow themselves to think about it...wish they would!

According to the September 2007 Kingdumb Misery, you can study all you want as long as you do not do so independently or in small groups, or use independent sources to verify the accuracy of the Watchtower doctrine or the New World Translation. So long as you rely solely on Watchtower littera-trash, you can study all you wish and not find anything wrong (of course, you will also have to stay up to date and not dig back into the past).

People that do much research and Bible studies with the help of Puketower publications and no independent study will stay in (and believe what the Watchtower Society says). In fact, those will be the strongest ones, since they feed their minds on garbage all day. Once they start using independent sources or studying the Bible alone, especially if they ditch the New World Translation for their favorite translation or the King James Version, they are soon going to see the lies of the Tower and start going apostate.

I mean, when i started really studing a lot, I had questions right away...

How do they not have a ton of questions??? Its so weird to me...

JC's do not cause them to be exposed to anything about the UN, 607 BCE, etc. etc. unless the
people being accused are bringing it up. That might be just starting to get more common, but it
didn't happen to me- ever, nor to the other elders in congs. that I was in. Still, I bet it does happen.
I may have gotten out as the tip of the iceberg was appearing.

Most heavy study JW's are just reinforcing the WT agenda. It doesn't necessarily help. It more
often hurts. Yet, it helped me to catch discrepancies in their doctrine (post 1975 teachings vs.
current teachings and "this generation). You have to study with a view to looking for discrepancies
for this to really work. Another help for me was as an elder, I was amazed at how little the members
knew or understood when I led a Q&A. That led me to examine the doctrine further.

By study a lot it means to memorize the WT dogma as found in the current publications. There are errors and contradictions that slip through the writing dept- they show up here all the time- "hey, look at what I found!"

Two of the dumba$$ elders didn't know anything about the UN tahngy when I told them.

They said it was all lies so I told them to call Crooklyn but they called the PO to report me for spreading lies about the "Faithful Slave" and expected to have my rebel a$$ in front of them and another elder.

Well, the PO said, "Err Uhhh Well Actually we did get a letter awhile back explaining the situation."

So, no most of them have no clue about what goes on and the PO and secretary usually are so braindead they will do anything the "Faithful Slave" tell thems to do.

That is why I would not be surprised if the Borg starts stoning people who resist them during the Great Tribulation.

I don't think elders in general know much at all - just my opinion

They are taught to study the publications. The scriptures that are referenced are to give the illusion that whatever is being discussed is scriptural. When I was a good little dub I would look up the scriptures cited without REALLY reading them, just gave them a quick once over to see what they were and notate it in the margin of my WT to show that I really did study. What a crock! It wasn't until I started having doubts that I really read the scripture to see if it backed up what was trying to be conveyed. Sometimes I would scratch my head and think that it was a bit of a stretch. Most JW's blindly accept that it means what they say it means without ever questioning, afterall...if something is not understood correctly, "Jehovah will straighten it out in his own due time, we just have to wait on Jehovah."

Very few elders study much, i've known many elders that don't even bother keeping up with the magazine,

study for the meeting or personal study.

At any elders meetings ( 21years) hardly ever seen an elder turning to the bible as decisions were being made.

A was so much easier to turn to elders book and follow the directions of the GB.

Many i know had doutbs about the "truth" but no one would dare to say a word about it.

It's no so much how much you study, it how much of an open mind you have. The more convinced you are that it is the Truth, the more likely you will dismiss anything that suggests the contrary.
