Pain is inevitable, suffering optional.
Actually there are a lot of "believers" here, too!

The thing is, witnesses are very good at what they do, namely destroy a persons current belief system. They have the reasoning book and others that tell you how to break a person belief's. On the flip side you have the conditioning, that serves to insulate its members from the same tactics being used against them.
SO when one is forced to confront or challange the witness beliefs, sadly the best way to do it is to tear down the facade that they build their dogma up on. You do extra in-deph research on the scriptures they use and the history of how certain beliefs came to be. After going thru this crucible of truth, precious little can survive. -

It happened to me. I believe that something made all of this but not in the Bible or its god. Once the critical thinking process started, there was no stopping it.

i always had a faith in god , even though my parents were not religious , then i met the dubs and felt it was based more on pleasing people ie elders and keeping up appearences than god , when i left i go my faith back !

That is why the Watchtower Society tells its machines not to research the belief system using independent sources. Because once you start doing that, you see all the blatant lies they tell.

I was once a strong believer in the Bible and God. Perhaps if I had enjoyed a relatively trouble free life I would never have called into question the basis for my beliefs. Since reality sucks sometimes and my imaginary God never helped out, I deliberately did research to destroy my faith, not just in JW, but also in the Bible and its God. So, I already had my doubts. This site and several others were instrumental in helping me fully explore those doubts.

I like what White Dove said - when critical thinking starts, you can't turn it off.
