It seems that both 'sides' are intent on proving to the other who is right. The truth of the matter is that one can never KNOW. We may belieive, we may hope, we may have faith, we may live as if we are certain...but we never KNOW what, if anything, is beyond this life.

these comments have all been great! i know my statements have been rather simplistic on this topic, but these responses really have gotten me thinking.
Is it so hard for a person to have a balance between his spiritual life and doing things that he enjoys. I try very hard to read the bible daily and do my personal study, but I also make time for fishing (one of my favorite pastimes) and playing music and hiking.
Frenchy-why couldn't you kind of...put the 2 people in your illustration together and split the differnce! :)
