    Alienone,

"If people choose the "wrong" religion, they obvioulsy do not want what the Bible offers, and therefore will not get it."

Do you think anybody really chooses the wrong religion? Does anybody conscientiously choose anything "wrong" for themselves?

As for the statement "obviously", who is this obvious to? I always hated the way the Wt inserted that word ALL THE TIME to make their point.

    On another note...

Mysterious Ways is a TV show on PAX. Anybody ever watch it? It's on tonight at 9:00 pm Eastern

    Sorry for going OT...

I am not a JW and never have been. However, the best arguments for becoming one are provided by those who are against it, in that such arguments completely ignore the broader picture.

Nothing could make it clearer that you are a JW..

Thank you Julien for saying exactly what I wanted to say:

    what absolute, utter BULLSHIT!!!

I can't believe people can continue to spout drivel like this in the face of the mountains of evidence proving JWdom is a scam designed to control the lives and wallets of people too scared to face reality.

Hi Alienone, a lot is debatable...i.e. evolution v creation. However claims that God is actively working/backing a particular religion..can be examined and conclusions drawn. The WTS cannot produce any evidence that God is backing it whatsoever. It has been accepted that you cannot expect God to do anything miraculously..but the idea of a FDS being given food at the proper time was conceivable. However to the stuff that comes through the WTS is nothing more than mans ideas...and pretty shoddy at that...to say much more is an insult to your intelligence.

    Nothing Mysterious

I think the Bible instills that (healthy) fear without any help from man. Also, fearing for one's life could be described as a selfish motive, when compared to those who want to side with God out of gratitude for their life and love of him and his ways.

    alienone,

Its a circular argument. You cannot be grateful to god for life, unless you are ALIVE. You might argue that if you love your own life more than god, maybe you're not deserving of life?

Consider, Peter. He rejected even _knowing_ Jesus to his face. Three times. In one night! Kill him right? He was afraid wasnt he? For what? His life? YES.

But Jesus reads hearts not their outwardly pretense. That is why Peter went on to his acts. Even after he died, he had to get the apostles out of their fishing boats. No fear, apathy, or selfnishness there, is there?

Please read again and try to understand what Jesus said regarding mercy versus sacrifice as he demonstrated time and time again.

When you step down from judge, believe me, your heart feels much lighter.

The Bible provides plenty of information to determine how closely a religion is following its precepts. I’m not trying to start a debate about finding the one true religion, just talking about does a particular group follow the Bible?

    First:
    Deuteronomy 18: 21,22
You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?"
If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Since its beginnings the Watchtower has been a veritable fountain of unfulfilled prophecy. This alone is sufficient to demonstrate that it is not the religion of the Bible. The Watchtower has attempted to state that it has not called itself a prophet. First, that is not true, and secondly it claims that it is God’s sole channel of communication with mankind. It demands complete adherence to its pronouncements on this basis. Over the years there have been numerous articles talks, and assembly dramas hammering home the point that disobedience to the Watchtower is disobedience to God.

    John 13: 35
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Does the Watchtower show love when it demands its followers shun family members who have stumbled over one of its Talmudic rules? Does it show love when it demands that its followers risk their lives by refusing necessary medical treatment, then changes the rules without so much as an apology? Is a refusal to acknowledge that many of its followers are living a minimal life style because they obeyed the Watchtower’s rules regarding education?

    Matt. 18:20
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
This is a clear statement that Jesus did not expect his followers to become part of some all-controlling empire. Where they find themselves in the company of like minded believers, He is with them.

    Matt 28: 19,20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[1] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Jesus does not need to return, He never left. He has always been with His people.

    Hi AlienOne:

    You said:

"Jesus said that only "a few" would find the truth in these last days. How could that be accurate if the truth were clear?"

If you have never been a JW, what belief system do you have that states that these are the last days?

Me thinks that you lied, and are an active JW!!!

Now why would you lie about being a JW, or having been one?????

Hmmm, one has to wonder!!! You wouldn't be trying to get that programmed 'fear' up in any witnesses who happen to be lurking around here, would ya???? And, of course, lying about never being a witness, or never have been could be classified under the theocratic warfare act of 1958 <G>.. Too bad that you are using this act on your own 'brothers and sisters'... I guess they don't need to know the truth, do they.. That you are using nothing more than a fear tactic to 'set them straight' again, and to disregaurd the mountains of information PROVING scripturally that the WTBTS cannot be god's chosen channel of communication!!!!

Nice try, we're not buying into it, though!!!
